TITLE: Hourly Intern I
HOURLY RATE: $15.50/hr LOCATION: Wadsworth Center - David Axelrod Institute Bloodborne Viruses Laboratory 120 New Scotland Ave Albany, NY 12208 ANTICIPATED START DATE AND END DATE: 9/8/25 and 12/16/25 APPROXIMATE NUMBER OF HOURS/WEEK: 20 hrs/week MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified candidates must be either an MPH or an MS Epidemiology student at SUNY Albany's College of Integrated Health Sciences; AND must have completed at least 24 credits of coursework toward their degree including at least four of the core courses; AND must have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or better AND are unable to participate in an internship if on academic probation. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Biomedical Sciences concentration, familiarity with PCR, laboratory experience, data analysis experience RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform laboratory assays to detect HIV-1 RNA and DNA in human blood samples Analyze data using computer software Summarize results in oral presentation and written summary DETAILS OF EMPLOYMENT: 20 hrs a week for 12 weeks September - December 2025 Flexible schedule between hours of 7:30a-4:30p APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Submit resume to Katrina Chamberlain kchamberlain@albany.edu or via the method detailed in the Fall 2025 internship instructions by August 7, 2025. Hourly, grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required. Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
