About the Team You will be part of the General Accounting team based out of our headquarters in San Francisco, California. This team is responsible for ensuring the consolidated financial statements of Williams-Sonoma, Inc. are complete and accurate, including managing the global monthly accounting close. Overview of the Role We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support the General Ledger/Consolidation team with month end close activities and other tasks. Responsibilities
- Coordinate month-end accounting close for certain of our international entities and work closely with our international offices and our external accountants
- Prepare monthly journal entries for international entities and global operations, including sales, COGS, other SG&A expenses, intercompany transactions and intercompany eliminations
- Calculate and validate exchange rates used for consolidation
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and research and resolve variances
- Review and analyze monthly activity for reasonableness. Prepare reports and document analysis for management's review
- Prepare support and documentation for intercompany transactions and intercompany funding requests, reconcile intercompany accounts
- Assist in statutory audits and provide support to internal and external auditors
- Assist in uploading and downloading Statutory financials and invoices from local government portals
- Assist other team members as needed and complete special projects as assigned
Extended hours during our monthly and annual close periods will be required. Criteria
You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance You have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a corporate accounting environment; global, publicly-traded company preferred You have demonstrated strong analytical skills You are a self-starter, are highly reliable and have a strong work ethic You have solid professional judgment and know when to escalate You adapt to changes quickly You can work well under pressure and produce high-quality work within tight deadlines You are professional in your communications (both written and verbal) Proficient in Excel: creating pivot tables, advanced formulas and functions e.g. VLOOKUPS Previous experience with Oracle Cloud ERP is a plus - Ability to work onsite in the San Francisco office Monday - Thursday and work remotely on Fridays.
