Description

Washington Collegeis currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director, Human Resources. Alongside the College's new leadership team, Human Resources works to enhance the employee experience by ensuring employees are engaged in the college community, offered a robust and comprehensive total rewards package, and provided opportunities for personal growth and development. The ideal candidate is an HR professional who is confident in their knowledge and experience, willing to introduce changes and institute best practices.

The Assistant Director will initially focus on the Employee Benefits and Total Compensation functional areas. Utilizing benefits and financial experts, this position will review current and new offerings, provide recommendations, and assist with administration and implementation of programs and plans. As a member of the Human Resources team, the Assistant Director will also be involved in other operational areas including recruitment and employment, employee relations, compliance, and performance management.

Thisfull-time position reports to the Director of Human Resources, is a member of the Finance Division and is eligible for a package of correspondingfull-timebenefits. This position is also eligible for a hybrid work schedule dependent on project demands. The estimated range for compensation for this position is $70,000 to $85,000 annually.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Oversee the design, administration, and communication of employee benefits programs, including health and welfare plans, various leave and paid time off programs and wellness initiatives.
  • Work closely with brokers and consultants to provide recommendations/changes and deliver a cost effective and attractive set of benefits to employees. Manage the Open Enrollment process with assistance from carriers, consultants, electronic information systems, and internal staff.
  • Manage the administration of the College's Retirement Plan (403(b)) in conjunction with Finance, retirement advisors/specialists, auditors; ensure compliance with annual reporting requirements.
  • In consultation with the HR Director, recommend pay changes, assure compliance with Federal and State wage and hour regulations, evaluate position tasks and responsibilities.
  • Partner with HR leadership to support workforce planning, employee relations, compensation strategies, talent acquisition, and performance management initiatives.
  • Advise management on HR best practices, policy application, employee relations issues, engagement strategies, and retention matters.
  • Initial contact for leave programs, including FMLA, parental leave, short-term and long-term disability, liaison between employee programs and payroll. Recommend plan and policy changes to better serve the community through straightforward design and administration.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of HR communications related to benefit plan offerings, new/changes to policies, college-wide and HR related strategic initiatives.
  • Work with other HR team members and other stakeholders to improve overall delivery of services; incorporate best practices to develop efficiencies and simplify workflows.


Qualifications

Education/Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field; in lieu of degree, prior experience will be considered
  • Five or more years of progressive Human Resources experience, including total compensation programs
  • Strong working knowledge of HR regulations including ACA, FMLA, COBRA, Title VII, EEO, ERISA
  • Experience collaborating with finance and legal experts to manage risk and follow best practices
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders and build positive relationships
  • Ability to work both within a team environment and independently
  • Experience working within an ERP/Payroll environment; Paycom, Ellucian/Colleague knowledge a plus
