Key Position Details:

As Pharmacy Director - Retail and Specialty Pharmacy, you will lead system-wide operations across 13 and soon to be 16 retail and specialty pharmacy locations. Reporting to the Chief Pharmacy and Laboratory Officer, you will oversee a team of 250+ pharmacy professionals, including four managers, a prescription assistance program supervisor, and a pharmacy buyer.

  • Provide strategic direction for specialty and retail pharmacy operations across Allina Health.

  • Lead and grow a team of 250+ pharmacy professionals across multiple pharmacy sites.

  • Drive performance, efficiency, and regulatory compliance across the system, including 340B program oversight.

  • Lead expansion of specialty pharmacy services, including building relationships with drug manufacturers and internal stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with senior system leaders and serve on the Pharmacy Executive Committee.

  • Oversee pharmacy budgeting, cost containment, inventory management, and optimization of contracts and vendor relationships.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance with state and federal agencies, including the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy, DEA, FDA, HRSA, and CMS.

  • Serve as a preceptor or mentor for pharmacy residents and students to support future workforce development.

Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic direction and leadership of site and system-wide pharmacy operational and clinical services and medication use.
  • Manages employees and holds them accountable for role responsibilities, competencies, individual performance, and goals.
  • Accountable for setting and meeting budget and productivity targets.
  • Coordinates and participates in medication safety initiatives and programs.

Experience, License and Education

Required Qualifications

  • Specialty pharmacy leadership experience is required.

  • At least 3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Director or Manager.

  • Experience managing multi-site pharmacy operations.

  • Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams and drive performance.

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Registered Pharmacist (RPh) degree.

  • Current MN Pharmacist License (or eligible upon hire).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Retail pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
  • Master's degree in business or health care related area.
  • Residency and/or Fellowship.
  • PGY2 health-system pharmacy administration and leadership residency.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed Pharmacist - MN Board of Pharmacy required upon hire.
  • Pharmacotherapy Certification or other specialty area preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Light Work: Lifting weight up to 20 lbs. occasionally, up to 10 lbs. frequently.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $84.99 to $117.59 per hour The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience and education. Additional incentives may be available, including discretionary monetary bonuses, goal-based bonuses, and other financial incentives.
