Job Overview

Performs visual and quantitative physical and biological inspections of raw materials, in-process/finished product and environmentally controlled manufacturing areas. Performs special assignments in support of R&D and engineering projects. This is a Wayne based position.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties



  • Perform microbiological testing as required and as trained
  • Performs sample registration and sample incoming inspection
  • Performs sampling for detection of hydrocarbons contaminants in compressed air systems
  • Maintain microbiological Excel databases
  • Prepare all glassware and equipment used for microbiological testing. This includes the cleaning, depyrogenationand sterilization of all glassware and equipment used
  • Assist with quarterly gathering of shipment of product for outside testing
  • Responsible for collecting test samples as needed for sponsor outside lab
  • Initiate document change orders
  • Will assist and perform lab maintenance as required.
  • Will assist and perform in clerical duties such as file review and archiving
  • Assist on related responsibilities as assigned



Minimum Requirements



  • Associate Degree in life or biomedical sciences or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • National Registry of Microbiologist is preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years working in Microbiology Laboratory in a Medical Device or Pharmaceutical industry



Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Trained in Aseptic Techniques and two of the following areas:

    • Environmental Monitoring, Analysis of Liquid samples, Sterilization/disinfection of Lab equipment


  • Must demonstrate ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities. High attention to detail is required
  • Must demonstrate ability to work effectively in a team setting, be flexible and exhibit a willingness to learn and take on new tasks
  • Must demonstrate ability to identify issues, effectively problem solve and propose solutions
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software applications


The base salary for this position is a minimum of $27/hour to an maximum of $35/hour.
