SAH Sr Revenue Cycle Coordinator

Summary:
The Revenue Cycle Coordinator supports cross-departmental efforts to ensure optimal patient financial services, efficient revenue cycle processes, and positive patient outcomes. This position focuses on reducing denials, enhancing billing accuracy, and improving patient throughput to ensure consistent cash flow. The coordinator plays a critical role in achieving revenue cycle performance goals and contributing to the financial health of Brown University Health.

Responsibilities:

Operational & Technical Responsibilities

    • Monitor high-dollar and aging accounts (unbilled, denials, follow-ups) using Epic Work Queues and SSI Clearinghouse.
    • Assist departments with resolving daily batch rejections via SSI Clearinghouse.
    • Train new users on Epic Revenue Cycle Work Queues and SSI workflows.
    • Ensure departments reconcile daily charges accurately.
    • Partner with departments to escalate unresolved revenue issues.

    Interdepartmental Collaboration

    • Participate in cross-functional teams involving Patient Access Services, Health Information Management (HIM), Lab, and other hospital-based departments.
    • Attend weekly Central Billing Office (CBO) meetings to review A/R activities, denials, billing, cash posting, CDM, and vendor coordination.
    • Attend monthly Patient Access Management meetings to provide feedback and address outstanding revenue-related activities within the facilities.

    Process Improvement & Compliance

    • Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures.
    • Drive process improvements across departments to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
    • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, including payer-specific standards.

    Customer Service & Communication

    • Provide timely, respectful, and professional support to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Maintain a collaborative and solutions-oriented approach with peers and management.
    • Uphold the values of respect, honesty, fairness, and customer-centered care.

    Required Knowledge and Skills

    * ls responsible for ongoing development of his/her work skills through the use of available resources (i.e.: in-services, formal educational programs, other work groups and on-the job training).

    * Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-services and/or reviews documentation as required.

    * Assists in the orientation of others and actively participates in mentoring.

    * Performs analytical and decision-making functions with minimal supervision.

    * Recognizes and seeks assistance/consultation when appropriate.

    * Demonstrates an understanding of relative Brown Health and all-departmental policies and procedures including safety issues.

    * Possesses awareness of programs/services provided by Brown Health and where they are located.

    * Ensures compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and directives from regulatory agencies and third-party payers.

QUALIFICATION/EDUCATION

* Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.

* In-depth knowledge of healthcare billing, collections, and insurance claim workflows.

* Experience with Epic Work Queues and SSI Clearinghouse preferred

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access).

* Familiarity with medical coding systems including CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM.

Preferred:

* Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field.

* Experience working in an academic health system environment.

SUPERVISION:

Reports to the Vice President of Revenue Cycle.

Supervision Exercised:
May provide guidance to junior revenue cycle staff and project teams as needed.
