Department:ICE \| PeriopSvc Main Operating Room UC Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties:The Surgical Technician will assembles supplies for surgical procedures, set up and maintains the sterile field, passes surgical instruments, and assists in room preparation. This professional nursing role will require the ability to coordinate care the needs for the surgical case the surgeon, nurses, other members of the team to provide an optimal outcome for the patient and work collaboratively with clinic providers, fellows, and staff. Requires the ability to effectively communicate. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: High School GED or formal educational equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Scrub Technologist school/program or 2 years of experience as a surgical technologist. Ability to follow oral instruction, read, and write Preferred Qualifications: Scrub Tech Certification Additional Information: Responsibilities: Ensures availability of appropriate instrumentation, supplies, and equipment for assigned cases. Ensures that the room has been prepared for the upcoming cases Ensures that the instruments are cleaned, arrange,d and transported to the soiled workroom according to department policy; independently assists with instrument reprocessing tasks when assigned cases are completed and time permits; Ensures that the operating rooms are case-ready for the following day's cases; Exhibits practical knowledge of OR equipment, including maintenance and safety aspects. Utilizes available communication tools; demonstrates teamwork by offering assistance to other team members; Share knowledge, information, and expertise with other staff; Attends departmental in-services and other educational offerings; Consistently demonstrates new knowledge and skills through incorporation into actual clinical practice.
