Responsible for processing and managing physician orders in a clinical setting, ensuring accuracy and timely communication between healthcare providers and departments. Collaborates with clinical and administrative teams to track, verify, and update patient orders in compliance with hospital policies.
Essential Functions
Process and enter physician orders into the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
-Verify the accuracy of orders and ensure they are complete before routing to the appropriate departments.
-Communicate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to clarify and update orders as needed.
-Monitor and track the status of orders to ensure timely execution and follow-up.
-Collaborate with administrative and clinical teams to resolve any issues or discrepancies in orders.
-Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements regarding order management.
-Maintain detailed records of all physician orders, including updates and amendments.
-Assist with audits and quality checks related to order processing and documentation.
-Provide training and support to staff on order entry procedures and best practices.

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Licenses and Credentials

Experience
Experience in a healthcare administrative role, preferably in a clinical setting 1-2 years required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and order entry processes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing physician orders.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with healthcare providers.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple orders and priorities simultaneously.
- Problem-solving skills to address order discrepancies and resolve issues.
- Knowledge of hospital policies and healthcare regulations related to order processing.
