POSITION SUMMARY

The Software & Systems Engineer is to provide intermediate level technical support of a manufacturing execution system (MES), PAS-X, in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Facilitating optimization of established processes and records, while providing technical expertise and support to daily operations. The Engineer will be responsible for leading technical initiatives and implementation activities to maximize the functionality and user experience of the MES and ERP systems. These activities help minimize costs and contribute to the profitability and performance of the business.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilizing object-oriented programming; design, develop, and maintain software systems to be used by various departments in a manufacturing setting.
    • Troubleshoot plant floor MES execution and integration issues.
    • Authoring, formula/system development and testing
  • Leverage root cause analysis to address Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), SAP, and MES inefficiencies.
  • Facilitate the site's integration of level 2 automation control systems.
    • SCADA/Ignition
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, ensuring critical parameters are captured and effectively controlled.
  • Lead and author deviation investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Create and implement corrective & preventative measures, supporting right-first-time execution.
    • Utilizing TrackWise, Veeva Vault.
  • Utilize Power BI and other supporting software systems to build, track, and communicate MES related performance metrics.
  • Change Control, Validation, and Qualification Management of system changes.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance and inspection readiness of MES
  • Support daily activities of manufacturing operations. This includes troubleshooting, investigating root cause of deviations, implementing corrective/preventative actions, pertaining to the site MES & ERP systems.
  • Lead, execute and deliver annual Continuous Improvement Projects at a specific dollar value based on job grade.
  • Communicate changes and updates resulting from project meeting activities, strategy and continuous improvement efforts, and project implementation activities.
  • Performs reliability analysis (FMEA) to identify root causes of process and system issues.
  • Develops procedures and specifications for the reliability maintenance aspects for existing and new equipment.
  • Facility support may be required during non-routine hours.

SKILL, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
  • 3+ years engineering, troubleshooting, and solutions design of Korber/Werum PAS-X, POMS, Rockwell PharmaSuite, or other Life Sciences focused MES systems.
  • Experience with SAP S4/HANA
  • Knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems
    • OPC/Ignition
  • TCP/IP Networking, Routing, Ports and Firewalls
  • Experience in lean six sigma, applying continuous improvement tools
  • Basic understanding of statistical analysis
  • Experience within a pharmaceutical environment preferred
  • Ability to effectively present complex information to others
  • Language Skills: Technical Writing required, along with effective written and oral communication
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Applications, Power BI or comparable statistical software

The work conditions for this position are 70% stationary and 30% standing and walking throughout the workday.
