Summary
Performs routine testing in a high-complexity clinical diagnostic laboratory. Responsible for the receipt of patient samples as well as the preparation of specimens for microscopic examination and analysis by Pathology. This role also troubleshoots on-hold cases and collaborates closely with the Laboratory Operations team to ensure smooth workflow progression. Key tasks include cutting, mounting, staining, and batching slides. Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions Ensures proper identification and sorting of specimens according to priority and complexity; assigns specimen numbers accordingly Describes the appearance of specimens and trims them into blocks Embeds specimens with correct orientation Prepares specimens for rapid frozen section diagnosis using liquid nitrogen and a cryostat microtome Maintains accurate and up-to-date quality control records Modifies prescribed techniques and use of apparatus as needed to meet required quality standards Education Physical Requirements The General Hospital Corporation is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
