Position Overview

The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, ensuring a positive and professional experience during specimen collection. This role involves drawing high-quality blood samples, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and maintaining strict adherence to established safety, accuracy, and confidentiality standards. The PSR I fosters an atmosphere of trust and confidence with patients and demonstrates strong communication and organizational skills while upholding process excellence and patient care standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform daily activities accurately, efficiently, and on time under the direction of the area supervisor
  • Maintain a safe, professional, and compliant work environment
  • Collect and process clinical and forensic specimens according to established procedures and quality standards
  • Ensure proper identification, labeling, and documentation of all specimens
  • Demonstrate exceptional phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections
  • Provide clear explanations of procedures to patients to ensure comfort and understanding
  • Maintain all required records, logs, and documentation accurately and securely
  • Promote a positive organizational image through professional conduct and patient-centered service
  • Support operational efficiency by assisting team members and adapting to varying workloads as needed


Job Requirements

  • Ability to produce accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in data entry and computer systems
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed
  • Reliable transportation to and from the worksite; public transportation or rideshare services are not considered reliable options
  • Must consistently report on time and complete scheduled shifts; excessive tardiness or absenteeism may result in termination


Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)


Work Experience

  • Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required
  • One or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Customer service experience in a retail or healthcare setting preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency with keyboarding and data entry required


Work Schedule and Details

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • Rotational Saturday: 6:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at an alternate facility
  • Full-time, on-site position (not eligible for remote work)
  • Assignment requires candidates to reside within a 20-25 minute commute of the worksite
  • Rate of pay based on verified years of direct experience

  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required for this position
  • Reliable daily attendance and punctuality are essential for continued employment
