Position Summary

The Associate Senior Counsel is responsible for the provision of legal advice regarding various legal matters of The Johns Hopkins Health System Corporation ("JHHS") and its affiliates. It includes responsibility for the interpretation of laws and regulations specific to assigned practice group. This position also provides support to the General Counsel and the Deputy General Counsel, as needed. Success in the positon requires the recognition and understanding of relevant legal principles and restrictions, as well as the ability to understand, articulate, and incorporate strategic and tactical considerations which are consistent with and further the interests of JHHS and its tri-part mission.



Role Accountabilities Include:



  • Providing legal advice on matters related to assigned Practice Group
  • Recognizing and advising clients on legal concerns
  • Developing creative, practical, and accurate solutions to potential legal issues and applying legal principles to facts
  • Preparing, negotiating and/or reviewing a wide variety of legal documents
  • Investigating, researching and/or analyzing client matters
  • Handling matters of increasing complexity



Qualifications:



  • A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Continuing legal education involving legal seminars, review and study of legal periodicals and review of judicial decisions and legislative enactments and pronouncements.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience including 3-5 years of management experience at the Bar.
  • Member in good standing of the Maryland Bar or Bar of another jurisdiction and eligible to become licensed to practice in Maryland or Florida.
