We have a job opening and exciting opportunity for a full time Buyer (Hybrid) in any of our Tiffin, OH or Andersonville, TN or Earth City, MO locations. The primary role of the Buyer is inventory management and the supervision of the flow of goods from manufacturers to Concordance's warehouses and from these facilities to point of sale. The Buyer is responsible for overseeing the replenishment and management of inventory levels across all Concordance locations.

Essential Functions:



  • Create purchase orders for all assigned vendors.
  • Each Buyer has assigned vendors that require them to review, change, and manage the Purchase Order (PO) suggestions by analyzing lead times, days of inventory on hand, and demand spikes.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels for all their assigned vendor's items.
  • Makes decisions on transfers, including on when to transfer from another location while using experience and knowledge to weigh the freight expense associated with the transfers.
  • Accept or reject demand usage changes, including smoothing fluctuations in customer purchases.
  • Direct ability to influence, change, and make decisions independently that directly effects the amount of inventory we purchase.
  • Manage lead time variations, safety stock overrides, based on product availability.
  • Responsible for monitoring product availability and to make changes that help facilitate us receiving the inventory needed to fill the customer's demand.
  • Proper and timely maintenance of assigned vendors in VAI.
  • Must communicate with vendor relations or the vendor directly to identify changes in order and prepaid freight minimums. Identifying which vendors we pay freight for and having a freight factor assigned to compensate for the freight expense.
  • Identify efficiencies in ordering pallet quantities, truckload buys and special one-time buys.
  • Proactively reach out to vendors to identify which items have enough volume to warrant purchasing by the pallet or layer to help in warehouse efficiencies.
  • Responsible for working monthly inventory reports, dead stock, recurring non-stock purchases.
  • Monthly reports include:

    • Zero Daily Average Usage- items that have not sold in the previous 3 months, buyer must decide if the item should be made non-stock, adjust existing stock requests, or reach out to sales to determine the future needs.
    • Non-stock report- items that are currently non-stock that have been bought by multiple customers in the past 3 months. Requires knowledge of product, vendor return policy, cost impact, and level of risk involved with making the item a stock item without a firm customer commitment.
    • Negative Daily Average Usage- When items are returned in a different period than they were bought buyer must analyze the return and make the needed adjustments to the daily forecast to avoid a negative impact.


  • Responsible for managing their portion of the stock request system.
  • Stock request system is the tool sales uses to have demand for items loaded. The buyer is the final decision maker on whether to accept, reject, alter, or question the requested usage. Product, vendor, cost analysis knowledge are all included in this process in helping to make the inventory level satisfactory.
  • Must also use stock requests to remove demand when a customer will no longer be using an item. This involves analyzing the current inventory level, stock status, and making the determination on leaving the item as a stock item, creating a buyout for the customer to deplete.
  • Identify items that need to be returned to the vendor in a timely manner based off of the vendor return policy.
  • Work closely with Sales and Customer Service to ensure proper inventory levels aid in manufacturer backorder identification and possible solutions.
  • Uses product knowledge, and vendor resources to help manage backordered items which may include identifying possible sub items, making the decision to expedite product at an additional expense, determining if stock is available in another location that can be sourced to fill a need.
  • The function of this job has a critical impact on customers fill rates and inventory dollar levels which has a direct impact on the company as a whole.
  • The core business function of Concordance Healthcare Solutions is to have product available based on the customers demand. The Buyers are responsible for ordering the correct amount of product to ensure we can service the customers demand.
  • Each buyer essentially takes ownership of their assigned vendors they have a direct impact in all aspects of the inventory from those vendors including stock/non-stock, new demand, freight expenses, days of inventory on hand etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.



What You will Need to be Successful:



  • Bachelor Degree in finance, accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-2 years of previous experience in an accounting, finance, analytical or business modeling role is required.
  • Experience in procuring product, electronic purchasing processes and an understanding of demand forecasting.
  • Typing, data entry, computer and intermediate math skills required.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office strongly preferred, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and possess analytical and cognitive skills.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check and drug screening.



Work Location:



  • This role is located in Tiffin, OH or Andersonville, TN or Earth City, MO.
  • This role is a hybrid model with a 2-3 days per week in the office and remaining days working remote.
