Under the general supervision of the Head Coach, act as the Director of Operations for a Division I Men's Basketball program in accordance with NCAA, Big Ten, and University regulations. Duties include: assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Men's Basketball office; developing and maintaining the annual budget; coordinating all travel; coordinating practice, game and facility schedules; serving as a liaison with compliance office ensuring adherence to Big Ten and NCAA rules; serving as a liaison with the Men's Basketball Sports Administrator; serving as a liaison with the Academic Services Office, Sports Medicine, Athletic Business Office, Video Services and Equipment Room, etc.; and other duties as assigned.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Travels with assigned team to ensure compliance with applicable state and university rules
  • Monitors the unit or program budget and approves unit expenditures
  • Schedules logistics, secures resources and finalizes team scheduling of facilities and travel for games, practices, camps, clinics, and special events
  • Evaluates existing strategies, policies, and procedures and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program enhancement and ensures compliance with existing requirements
  • Monitors student-athlete academic eligibility and status to ensure compliance with established rules and regulations
  • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees

Compensation:

Starting salary depends on qualifications, with a minimum of $87,112 per year.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two to five years of intercollegiate athletic experience is preferred.
  • An understanding of NCAA, Big Ten and University rules and regulations is also preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree required

Conditions of Appointment: This is a 100% Academic Staff appointment. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
