POSITION SUMMARY:

The maintenance planner is an integral part of a world-class maintenance organization. The primary purpose of this position is to develop and execute systems that maximize maintenance effectiveness. Initially focus will be on implementing robust systems in the areas of Breakdown Elimination (to minimize unplanned downtime) and Maintenance Planning & Scheduling (to most efficiently utilize planned downtime). These systems will be implemented first in the Aseptic Area and then reapplied broadly, driving standardization across the plant. Both systems are vital to sustainable Process Reliability improvement. The Maintenance Planner will also develop and maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and roll-out systemic processes in the areas of Maintenance Planning & Scheduling and Breakdown Elimination. Through training, personal interaction and leadership, develop organizational capability within each of the Business Units to execute these systems with excellence. (Initial focus will be in the Aseptic Business Unit).
  • Determine specific requirements for CMMS and ensure that those requirements are achieved through improvement of current systems or implementation of improved (and SAP compatible) alternatives.
  • Work effectively with a diverse "customer" group, (production operations, production planning, maintenance resources, USDA, Quality, etc.), to understand and meet/exceed their expectations, manage conflicting priorities and achieve desired business results.
  • Develop, implement Bills of Material (BOM) within the CMMS environment. Implement spare part management systems to drive down spare part inventory costs while ensuring that spare parts are available when needed.
  • Create and conduct training sessions as necessary, building organizational capability to most effectively maintain equipment.
  • Generate, apply and track maintenance metrics for measuring maintenance success. Examples include planned downtime, MTBF, MTTR, cost, etc.
  • Provide support/leadership in reducing and tracking maintenance costs.

JOB CONTACTS:

Primary contacts of the Maintenance Planner will include the plant Business Unit Managers, Maintenance leadership and resources, Business Unit Supervisors and Team Leaders. Secondary contacts will include the Supply Chain Manager, Engineering Manager, HS&E Manager and equipment operators.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: 2-year degree required (Electrical or Mechanical field preferred)

Experience: Minimum of 10 years (technical/production) in an automated manufacturing environment working with process and packaging equipment. Minimum of 3 years' experience in implementing and/or administering computerized maintenance management systems. Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of various software programs, including Lotus Notes and Microsoft Office. Experience with SAP is highly preferred.

Leadership: Demonstrated leadership experience and ability - proven experience in people development. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience working in a team-based culture is preferred. Must be able to interact with all levels of the organization.

Business Literacy: Must have knowledge of cross-functional areas to include Finance/Accounting - will participate in budgeting process.

Drive for Results: Must possess a systems approach to management and be able to implement measurement systems to achieve desired results.
