Spectra Tech, Inc. is urgently hiring for a Technical Writer IV (Remote) with a trip and/or two (2) to the site location in Los Alamos, NM! Spectra Tech, Inc. is seeking a Technical Writer IV to support the Los Alamos Legacy Waste Cleanup (LLCC) Project. This role will assist the Program Management Office (PMO) in developing the Option Period 2 (OP2) contract cost proposal. Period of Performance: From Date of Award through October 31, 2025.
Key Responsibilities (Duties include but are not limited to)
- Communicate and collaborate with team members and project staff to plan, develop, and produce highquality documents in a fastpaced, highpressure environment.
- Ensure projects adhere to schedules and deadlines; manage multiple project aspects simultaneously; set work priorities independently to meet changing deadlines and direction.
- Perform mechanical and substantive edits (grammar, technical usage, content, organization).
- Proofread and perform full edits on technical, generalaudience, and administrative documents; may rewrite or create original content.
- Composite (compile and format) large, complex technical documents using varied software and equipment; determine file formats for graphics; import/integrate images and tables; review final print and web quality; adjust processes to accommodate changes and resolve issues.
- Print, assemble, and prepare final print submittals to regulatory agencies; prepare and assemble electronic submittals; operate associated equipment.
- Create and use templates and style sheets to ensure product consistency and quality; tailor/improve templates and style sheets to meet project needs; help update and maintain team templates, checklists, and guidelines.
- Maintain electronic drafts, reviews, finals, and archived files; organize and retrieve archived files.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
- Comprehensive knowledge of technical writing/editing principles, composition, and document production.
- Advanced technical editing experience (grammar, usage, style, content, organization) across technical and other highquality communication materials.
- Demonstrated composition experience compiling, formatting, and producing regulatory documents for print and web; experience compositing technical and other highquality communication materials.
- Project management experience coordinating publication projects: create/maintain schedules; collaborate with project team members to plan, develop, and produce highquality communication products; transmit, organize, maintain, archive, and retrieve project files.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; communicate clearly and professionally via phone, email, and in person with multiple team members across multiple projects.
- Apply knowledge, experience, and judgment to solve problems, increase efficiency, and improve services/products.
- Effective as an independent contributor and flexible in a team environment.
- Detailoriented, highly knowledgeable, organized; takes initiative; proven ability to multitask, troubleshoot, and see projects through completion.
Education & Experience Requirements
Associate's Degree and 6+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent) required.
