Overview The Laboratory Manager assumes responsibility and accountability for laboratory operations within a Sentara facility. Responsible for the delivery of high-quality services that meet or exceed customer expectations. Analyzes patient data and suggests physician protocol for confirming patient diagnosis; acts as a consultant to pathologists, physicians, and other team members; identifies needs and implements training to ensure laboratory staff competency. Education Bachelor's in medical technology or Biology/Chemical Science Certification/Licensure ASCP or AMT certification Experience Laboratory (required) 3 years Laboratory Leadership (required) Located in Elizabeth City, Sentara Albemarle Medical Center is a 182 licensed bed, full service facility offering a wide range of services, including: inpatient and critical care, a full array of surgical services, sophisticated diagnostic imaging technology, comprehensive women's care, cardiology, cancer treatment, rehabilitation services and more. In 2022, Sentara broke ground on a new campus, a state-of-the-art 88-bed hospital to replace the current 60-year-old facility on North Road Street. The 135-acre campus, coming out of the ground at Halstead Boulevard Extended and Thunder Road, will be known as the Sentara Albemarle Regional Health Campus. It is projected to cost about $200 million, up from the original estimate of $158 million, due to sharp spikes in costs for building materials and medical equipment.
