Adjunct Instructor

The Department of Teaching and Learning within the College of Education at the University of Iowa is seeking an Adjunct Instructor for the following 4-semester hour course taught Fall semester 2025:

• EDTL:4467 - Methods: ESL and Bilingual Education
  
  
  
  • This course explores approaches, methods, and practices in teaching English to speakers of other languages in K-12 school settings. The focus is on effective and ethical approaches to language learning with practical applications of theory and research. Issues concerning linguistically diverse learners are covered with pedagogical implications. Students develop skills in ESL and bilingual education methods for Bi/Multilingual Learners.
  
  
  
  

Job Functions

Instruction and student support for the 4-semester hour course will include the following responsibilities:

• Development of a course syllabus for the course.
• Leading instruction for the course.
• Providing meeting time for students enrolled in the course.
• Managing the online course system (ICON) for the course.

Education Requirement

Master's degree in an education-related field. Special consideration will be given to ESL-related fields.

Qualifications

Adjunct Instructor must have completed an accredited Teacher Education Program in the United States and held a teaching license in the United States.

Required Experience

Adjunct Instructor must have successfully completed a minimum of two years of teaching at the Elementary, Middle School, Junior High School or High School level in the United States.
