This position is for a Certified Hand Therapist responsible for organizing, coordinating, and implementing Occupational Therapy/Hand Therapy services primarily to outpatients and other patients as assigned by the Therapy supervisor.
This Certified Hand Therapist is expected to train specific occupational therapy staff in their area of expertise and act as a resource for other occupational therapy personnel.
This specialist keeps abreast of current knowledge in the field and shares this information with the health care community. This therapist carries qualifications that are professionally recognized in the field.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- California Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT)
- Certified Hand Therapist
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
- Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy.
- Two or more years work experience as an Occupational Therapist (OT)
- Knowledge of methods for organizing training materials.
- Knowledge of appropriate information required for patient and supply record keeping.
- Knowledge of appropriate conferences, seminars, meetings, etc. which would be beneficial and determining continuing education goals appropriate to job.
- Knowledge of appropriate professional literature in area of expertise.
- Ability to establish and maintain good rapport with patients and their families.
- Ability to train family in follow-through for home therapy programs
- Ability to communicate clearly on a professional basis with physicians and work cooperatively with a variety of health care professionals.
- Ability to attend annual fire safety, CPR, infection control and other required safety classes,
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate scheduling of patients in assigned areas of responsibility. Ability to organize time, to be flexible, and cooperative.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Professional competency in OT evaluation techniques; such as range of motion testing, muscle testing, cognitive/perceptual testing, activities of daily living evaluation, sensory testing and use of standardized testing of upper extremity function.
- Professional competency in OT treatment modalities including activities of daily living and transfer training, strengthening, coordination, balance, range of motion, fabrication of splints and adapted devices,
- Skill to communicate ideas and relate well with Staff and patients in order to work as a team member, assist other staff members with their caseloads; and relay pertinent information and knowledge of the profession for training and educating other hospital service personnel Skill in the delivery of OT theory and practices.
- Skill in accurately organizing written material
- Skill and vision to observe patient reactions; hear and speak to communicate with patients and staff: physical strength to assist in relocating patients from one place to another,
