Job Description

Omni Viking Lakes Hotel is seeking a Banquet Captain. The Banquet Captain supervises the floor and banquet service staff to coordinate the execution of events and exceed guest expectations. This role leads our banquet servers and bartenders, and makes sure food is presented neatly, served on time and that all functions are coordinated properly.

Salary for this position starts at: $12.00/hour plus gratuities. Full Time Associates at Omni Viking Lakes are entitled to elect the following benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision and other healthcare benefits, Paid Maternity Leave, 401k and Paid Time Off Accrual. Omni Viking Lakes reserves the right to pay more or less than listed compensation scale based on factors not related to sex or race.

Responsibilities

    Responsible for controlling all aspects in the execution of banquet function.
  • Effectively supervise the Banquet staff during all food and beverage service.
  • Coordinating every aspect of the Banquet staff during all food and beverage service.
  • Assist the Banquet Manager in the complete operation of the Banquet Department.
  • Responsible for adhering to hotel policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for adhering to all liquor liability laws.
  • Must assist/conduct all designated staff/pre-function meetings.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by management.
  • Must follow all details as described on Banquet Event Orders (BEO's).
  • Must be able to set tables to specifications, carry trays, and have excellent customer service experience.
  • Complete banquet consumption sheets as designated by the Director of Banquets.
  • Attend department meetings and other company required trainings.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications

  • Previous banquet leadership experience required, 3-4 years of experience in a four-star/four-diamond hotel or resort is strongly preferred.
  • Must have and maintain current TIPS, ServSafe or equivalent alcohol training and food handler training.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and portray a friendly demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must consistently demonstrate a teamwork-oriented and positive attitude.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and stand and walk for long periods of time, including the duration of a full shift.
  • Must be able to walk, push, pull, stoop, bend, and lift items of moderate weight.

Working Environment:

  • Interior and exterior or resort property depending on location of events, bar areas, storeroom.
  • Exposure to various hazardous chemicals.
  • Exposure to food items and beverages.

Tools & Equipment:

  • Coffee maker/urn, toaster, microwave, beverage machines, bus trays, dishware, silverware, glassware, queen-mary cart, computer, telephone, pen/pencil
