Production Manager, 2nd Shift

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Second Shift Production Manager position. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.

Job Summary:

Provides leadership, communication, guidance and advocacy for all second shift operations in alignment with the direction set by department managers. Areas of direct responsibility include the Machine Shop, Rupture Disc, Engineered Products, and Weld/Fab/Paint. This role is responsible for coordinating and overseeing shift activities while promoting a culture of safety, quality, on-time delivery and continuous improvement to support overall profitability and customer satisfaction. Responsible for the manufacturing of components, sub-assemblies, and finished products consistent with customer and internal requirements. Recommends, implements, and as needed provides technical expertise and support within the operations environment. This position reports to the Director of Manufacturing.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Provides leadership and coaching to ensure an engaged employee base consistent with Fike core values.

2. Provides oversight and guidance of second shift leaders and employees to achieve results in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and profitability.

3. Ensures coordination of assigned departments to achieve corporate objectives.

4. Collaborates with Department managers to ensure our communication, policies, and procedures are understood and consistent.

5. Develops relationships within Sales, Engineering, Quality, Planning, Accounting, HR, and other departments to ensure Manufacturing activities are focused on achieving internal and external customer satisfaction.

6. Maintains a current knowledge of TOC, Lean, industrial best practices, and available technology to support recommendations for improvement.

7. Recommends, implements, and provides technical expertise for the establishment and maintenance of new and existing manufacturing processes and equipment.

8. Participates in the development of and adherence to safety policies/practices. Drives continuous improvement.

9. Monitors quality non-conformance, scrap, and rework to ensure root cause is understood and corrective actions are implemented.

10. Monitors manufacturing performance standards. Drives continuous improvement.

11. Assists Planners and Sales with expedited or accelerated delivery requirements.

12. Monitors and controls costs. Drives continuous improvement of profitability.

13. Participates in the preparation of the manufacturing annual financial plan, scheduling expenditures, analyzing costs and variances, and initiating actions to obtain financial objectives.

15. Participates in and supports the New Product Development process.

16. Promotes and drives personal development within manufacturing. Ensures maintenance of training logs.

17. Provides communication and feedback to managers and supervisors to help facilitate the annual performance review process.

18. Serves as backup production supervisor for assigned departments during times of supervisor leave..

19. Conducts monthly staff management meetings.

20. Maintains the confidentiality of all information processed.

Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, use hand to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The environment varies between an office setting and plant/shop as well as outdoors as necessary. Proper safety guidelines must be adhered to. The standard hours of this role are partially split between 1st and 2nd shift, Monday-Thursday: 2pm-12am.

Job Qualifications:

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, Business or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Eight years or more of post-degree experience. Five years or more of experience in manufacturing and supervisory and leadership experience.

PREFERRED: A diversified background in a wide variety of manufacturing practices such as forming, punching, machining, welding, heat treating, painting, assembly, and troubleshooting.
