Student Employee, Office Assistant - Campus Police

Job Description:

The campus police office assistant position supports various administrative and clerical functions within the police department with a high level of discretion, professionalism, and customer service skills.

POSITION TITLE: Student Employee, Office Assistant - Campus Police

STATUS: Part time

DEPARTMENT: Campus Police

DIVISION: Administrative Services

REPORTS TO: Director, Campus Safety & Police Chief and Administrative Assistant, Campus Police

CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt

MINIMIUM PAY RATE: $15.00 per hour

(Position is FWS Eligible)

Essential Job Duties and Key Responsibilities:

1. Assists with data entry and submitting invoices for payment.

2. Files, copies, scans, and organizes various department records.

3. Assists with social media and public engagement activities.

4. Prepares and submits department chargebacks.

5. Maintains inventory of office supplies.

6. Assists department members with various projects on an "as needed" basis.

7. Professionally interacts with all department members, community members and external agencies.

8. Works independently with minimal supervision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Current JJC student enrolled in 6 credit hours during fall/spring semester with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.

2. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.

3. Attention to detail. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

4. Professional appearance.

5. Ability to follow the Chain of Command.

6. Familiar with social media platforms.

7. Able to work up to 20 hours a week, anytime between 8am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

8. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
2. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
* Duties are performed indoors in the usual office environment.

* Remote location flexibility is available.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: This is a student employee position that works around your class schedule. May work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.
