NATURE AND SCOPE
Ensures a strong presence and engagement in underserved or targeted markets while maintaining a commitment to delivering competitive mortgage products and exceptional member service. Serves as point of contact for community partners, community loan officers, and internal employees, who have questions about our community lending program. Oversees team performance and alignment with organizational goals, compliance standards, and community engagement strategies. Represents Landmark in the community and builds strong partnerships that promote affordable and accessible mortgage lending.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor's degree in business or related field and a minimum five years of successful mortgage lending production experience in a financial institution and minimum two years of leadership experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
2. Experience building community partnerships or outreach programs is strongly preferred.
3. Bilingual/Fluent required (Spanish).
4. In depth knowledge of a wide range of mortgage products, processes, and regulations.
5. Demonstrated experience resolving member escalations.
6. Proven ability to lead others, train new staff and provide technical and sales coaching to other lenders.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
8. Proficiency with loan origination systems and related mortgage technology platforms.
9. Active registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS#).
10. Must develop a thorough understanding of company policies and procedures as they relate to this position. Must comply with all company policies and procedures and job-related state and federal laws and regulations.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Leads, coaches, and develops a team of Mortgage Loan Officers and Community Loan Officers, providing direction, performance feedback, training, and ongoing support to ensure production goals and service standards are met.
2. Serves as a reference and information source for community lending questions and education on products and services for all internal partners (ie - Branches, Member Services).
3. Develops and strengthens relationships with realtors, builders, and referral sources, as well as community-based organizations that support homeownership in low-to-moderate income communities.
4. Represents Landmark Credit Union in the community and strengthens community partnerships and referral sources by building relationships with nonprofits, community advocates, civic/professional organizations and with branch customers to share information and explore how Landmark products meet the needs of the community and customers.
5. Builds customer awareness and educates potential customers by facilitating home-buying seminars in Spanish/English.
6. Catalogs and stays up to date on local grant, down payment assistance and low to moderate income programs and coaches Loan Officers on how to incorporate these programs effectively.
7. Monitors individual and team pipelines to ensure timely processing, effective pipeline management, and proactive resolution of obstacles from origination through closing.
8. Assists in developing and maintaining Community Development Mortgage Plan for Landmark Credit Union.
9. Participates in leadership meetings and contributes to the overall direction of the Mortgage Lending department.
10. Champions a culture of cross-selling and member-focused solutions by modeling consultative conversations and coaching Loan Officers on identifying additional member needs.
11. Takes mortgage loan applications, provides required disclosures to applicants, obtains credit reports and completes/submits necessary paperwork to Mortgage Underwriters.
12.Remains informed on Landmark's loan products, processing procedures and underwriting guidelines.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
