Description:

This position is responsible for all day-to-day Engineering operations in support of the overall KTSV business objectives. Direct responsibilities encompass oversight of the VT Engineering Team. The position is responsible for organizing the work performed by the team of project engineers.

Key Accountabilities:

• Oversee the VT engineering team and play a key role in accelerating the development of the next-generationEnclosedand Open Rack Car Haulerpilots.
• Consolidate and streamline project management tools into a unified digital platform integrated with Sales and Production Planning.
• Lead the implementation of hardware/software infrastructure to enable digital engineering-to-production data releases and a paperless workflow across office and shop floor.
• Oversee the PLS custom product lineand develop a standard configurator brochureto support Sales. This initiative is expected to reduce Engineering and PM turnaround time from 3-4 weeks to 1-2 weeks.
• Accelerate outsourcing activities and support legacy product documentation with 2D drawings.
• Drive product and process innovation, including:
  • Weight reduction and lift gate redesign for the next-gen enclosed VT.
  • Enhancements to the standard product line (e.g., 1-skin smooth side).
  • Integration of AI tools in SolidWorksfor 3D modeling and automated production drawing generation.
• Pursue Innovation and a Continuous Improvement philosophy by providing trailer designs that are cost effective, functional and of high quality.
• Assure the proper oversight and input is provided to the VT Engineers through assigning of resources and reviewing and approving designs/drawings.
• Coach, council and train VT engineering team including goals and KPI's.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a four-year university required
• Project Management experience required
• Experience managing others required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent presentation skills
• Strong business acumen
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Siteline, and Microsoft Project
• Must possess an ease with people and the ability to develop new relationships easily
• Positive solution oriented mindset
