McStarlite, a division of Standex International Corporation's Engineering Technologies Group is one of the leading manufacturers of complex sheet metal components for the commercial and military aerospace markets. The company's revenue is from long-term, multi-year contracts giving it a stable base from which to strategically expand its core or seek new markets.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer to work with a small, high-performing team of engineers in the development and continuous improvement of sheet metal forming processes for aerospace components. This role demands a hands-on technical expert with a deep understanding of aerospace manufacturing standards, sheet metal forming methods (e.g., spin forming, draw forming, Hydro Forming), and a proven track record of participating in complex engineering projects from concept through production.

What You'll Do

Leadership & Team Management

  • Cooperate with the Engineering Manager, and guide team of engineers (design, tooling and parts manufacturing, quality/process, CNC and Robot programming).
  • Execute tasks, delegate, and set priorities to ensure timely and high-quality engineering deliverables.
  • Contribute to regular performance evaluations, identify skill gaps, and develop training plans.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Technical Oversight

  • Provide guidance on sheet metal forming technologies and process development, document company expertise and know-how.
  • Review engineering designs, process documentation, and tooling specifications.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing issues.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards (e.g., AS9100, NADCAP, customer-specific).

Process Improvement & Innovation

  • Identify opportunities to improve forming processes, reduce cycle times, and enhance quality.
  • Participate in the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma practices.
  • Support automation initiatives, tooling enhancements, and material cost reduction projects.

Customer & Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as technical point of contact for customers on engineering matters.
  • Prepare and present technical documentation, reports, and proposals.
  • Participate in audits, reviews, and customer meetings as required.

Project Management

  • Participate in engineering efforts for new product introductions (NPI), from prototype to production.
  • Oversee timeline, cost, and risk management for engineering-related projects in coordination with the Program Managers and Engineering Manager.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Production, and Supply Chain.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of engineering experience in aerospace manufacturing.
  • Strong expertise in sheet metal forming processes and tooling design.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and engineering analysis tools.
  • Deep knowledge of aerospace industry standards, materials, and specifications.

What We Value

  • Familiarity with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and PLM tools.
  • Experience working with OEMs and Tier 1 aerospace suppliers.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
