Job Responsibilities:

Job Summary:

This is a case manager position with lead/coordination duties, especially when the Program Director is out of the office. The position provides supervision services to the Court for adults charged with criminal offenses. As coordinator, this person is responsible for assisting the Program Director with the day-to-day operations of the OWI and Pretrial Supervision Programs. This position reports directly to the Program Director of Pretrial Services and interacts with the Director of Waukesha Court Services and the VP as needed.

Essential Functions:

Coordinator:

  1. Perform all aspects of the caseworker position (intakes, documentation in the hard and electronic files (AWARDS), court reports, fee spreadsheets, drug and alcohol testing, etc.) and provide back up to the OWI caseworker position as detailed in that job description.
  2. Process referrals to pretrial programs, enters info in AWARDS, create a hard file, and put together a spreadsheet of active participants to verify accuracy of information entered in AWARDS for reporting.
  3. Assist the Program Director with checking the quality of work by staff before being distributed to the Court, District Attorney and Defense Attorney (this includes the organization of the hard file, required documentation and reviewing court reports).
  4. Attend necessary meetings (i.e. staff meetings, office meetings, agency-wide meetings).
  5. Assist the Program Director to interview, evaluate, and train college interns and new program staff.
  6. Assist the Program Director with quality assurance for reporting, responding to requests to verify information through spreadsheets with persons served.
  7. Responsible for ongoing communication with the Program Director about personnel needs in the programs, i.e. staff coaching and development to ensure their growth/progress in their positions.
  8. Deal with day-to-day inquires and troubleshooting with staff.
  9. Assist the WCS leadership to enforce EM fee protocols and to monitor fee collections for persons served.

Caseworker:

  1. Monitor persons served while out on bail to ensure adherence to their bail conditions.This includes completing an initial intake appointment and scheduling weekly supervision appointments until discharge from the program (typically office visits).
  2. Collect pretrial fees, program and EM fees daily, track in the database, spreadsheets, and provide participants receipts.
  3. Conduct, record, and log alcohol and/or drug screens.
  4. Make any necessary treatment referrals and monitor progress in that treatment.
  5. Draft accurate and complete written reports to the court to include up-dated progress as well as non-compliance reports.
  6. Maintain accurate participant records in hard files and AWARDS to include detailed documentation of all contacts with persons served, all referrals made, and any pertinent information related to all pending cases (including verification of information provided by individuals in the program (i.e., prescriptions), and all information related to electronic monitoring.
  7. Rotate to provide drug and preliminary breath testing on weekends, specifically Saturdays from 7:00am to 10:00, as required
Job Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Social Work, or other related field
  • Possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's License
  • Minimum of 1-3 years in Pretrial Services preferred
  • Meet all the employee requirements including references, background checks, drug test, and driver's license check.

  • including Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Informed Care, Person-centered care, and other agency adopted principles, as well as following models for fidelity established by the agency. Complete training[SC1] in all agency-required EBP's within six months of hire unless otherwise directed at the agency employment orientation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Duties require good hearing and the ability to communicate verbally; hand and finger dexterity for data entry and typing; may involve some driving between Waukesha and Milwaukee County.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Most of the work will be done in the office, required to meet with persons served at our Milwaukee office; observe and supervise drug screens; individuals may exhibit disruptive behavior.
