Overview

Haskell is seeking a Director of Design for our thriving Water market. Lead a team that is ranked in Engineering New Record's Top 10 Contractors in Environment for Wastewater Treatment Plants as well as Sewerage & Solid Waste. Join our Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) firm where our team members align around our values of team, excellence, service, and trust.

It would be ideal to have this leader present in one of the following offices: Salt Lake City, Dallas (Frisco), Charlotte, or Jacksonville. However, we are open to individuals in other cities with a Haskell presence.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Strategic Leadership & Design Excellence
    • Own and advance Haskell's design management procedures, continuously incorporating best-in-class technicques and innovations into our process.
    • Champion design quality by overseeing the Haskell Quality Implementation Plan (QIP). You will ensure critical quality elements are integrated into design documents from the start and are successfully executed during construction.
    • Drive the coordination of proposal submissions, shaping our technical and design strategy to win new work.
  • Project Delivery & Design Management
    • Ensure the successful design delivery of all projects by leading the design process and all participants, including internal teams and external subcontractors on design-build and other collaborative delivery projects.
    • Lead the proactive management of the entire design process, ensuring fully coordinated documents that achieve project goals for quality, cost, scope, and on-time execution.
    • Establish and own the expectations for design document content and quality at all stages. You will define the key milestones and metrics to verify and report on design progress.
    • Maintain ownership and development of reporting tools and metrics for monitoring and communication of status/progress of project design.
    • Direct the successful integration of Haskell's internal design teams with outside design partners to ensure a seamless and unified project front.

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required (Master's degree preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • 10+ years in the Water industry with experience managing design disciplines.
  • Good understanding of the technical aspects of all building systems.
  • Proven experience working in the design phase of a project.
  • Proven experience working with collaborative delivery - Preferably with both the construction and design teams.
  • Focus on key design and quality process characteristics.
  • Ability to drive communication between teams and effectively communicate with clients and project/market leadership.
  • Ability to create accountability for self, teams both internal and external.
  • Ability to effectively manage teams, working remotely and in person when appropriate.

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
