HJF is seeking a Research Assistant I to provide data analysis support to the Principal Investigator (PI) on a part-time basis. This position is available either remotely or on-site. If on-site, the position can be expanded to include assistance with laboratory experiments and maintenance. The focus of the laboratory is the molecular pathogenesis of the bacterial pathogen Shigella.

This position will be in support of the laboratory of Dr. Christina Faherty at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Microbiology and Immunology.

  • Performs data analyses and organizes data for appropriate record keeping.
  • Performs data entry in accurate, timely, and efficient manner. Maintains clear and accurate data records in accordance with Good Laboratory practices.
  • Assists in the preparation of technical reports or summaries.
  • For an on-site position, follows instructions and standard operating procedures. Maintains supplies in the laboratory and ensures proper cleanliness and sanitation in accordance with Good Laboratory practices. Creates, collects, disseminates, and maintains appropriate study data. Creates and communicates detailed observations on experiments.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.


Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 0-2 years experience required


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Knowledge of standard data analyses procedures.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Good communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Home Office background check.


Physical Capabilities



  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods
  • For on-site positions, ability to climb, pull, or lift objects up to 25 lbs.


Work Environment



  • This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting.


Compensation



  • The hourly pay range for this position is $18.25 - $20.00. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
