STV is seeking a Senior Overhead Catenary Design Engineer with directing experience to join our Systems department at our Owings Mills, MD office.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS) for rail and transit infrastructure projects

  • Direct multidisciplinary teams in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for rail electrification projects

  • Coordinate with internal departments, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery

  • Review and approve design calculations, technical drawings, and submittals to ensure compliance with industry standards

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff

  • Oversee system integration efforts between OCS and other rail systems including traction power and signaling

  • Support business development activities through proposal writing, client presentations, and scope definition

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering

  • 15+ years of experience in Overhead Catenary System design, with at least 3 years in a lead or directing role

  • Deep understanding of OCS components, load analysis, structural support systems, and relevant codes and standards

  • Proficient in design tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and OCS-specific software

  • PE license strongly preferred; ability to lead design teams and manage client interactions required

  • Experience working on major transit or rail projects across different project phases (conceptual through construction)

  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills with a proactive, solution-oriented approach

Compensation Range:

$119,737.23 - $159,649.65
