Job description
Position Purpose:
Official Mail Center (OMC) is a part of the Base Information Transfer System (BITS) which is the total system that collects, processes, and distributes all incoming and outgoing official mail. The OMC dispatches mail through the United States Postal System (USPS) to all stateside bases, overseas bases and civilian addresses alike. The OMC also delivers mail to and picks up mail from all base agencies. Included within the BITS is the Document Security Section which processes all accountable mail to include secret and top-secret materials. Primary Responsibilities: *As Supervisor, this individual shall be responsible for the supervision, overall administration and coordination of the required services. They shall be the point of contact with both the Government and the Senior Leadership at VersAbility Resources and shall have the authority to make day-to-day decisions for the contractor and supervise the other mail clerk's performance on-site. *Aside from the Supervisory responsibilities, he/she is responsible for the receipt/sorting/distribution of official mail and intrabase communications for the Base Information Transfer Center. *Ensures all postal equipment is inspected, calibrated, and repaired. *Weighs and determines classification as well as correct postage on all outgoing official mail. *Prepares command pouches for entry into the United States Postal Service (USPS) mailing system. *Ensures staff, including himself/herself has all required training as mandated by VersAbility Resources and the Government. *Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities *Ability to foster positive relationships *Ability to multitask *Ability to administer regulations and standards *Skill in using MS Office Suite *Skill with written communication *Skill with oral communication Education: *High school diploma or GED *Minimum of one year of mail handling experience strongly preferred Experience: *Must not have physical restrictions prohibiting duty that involves prolonged standing, walking or lifting weights up to and including the maximum weight for mail piece (70 pounds). *Demonstrated ability to follow procedures while completing multiple tasks. *Proficiency in basic math skills to include sorting alphabetically and numerically. *Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Outstanding customer service is essential. *Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Ability to operate a Ford Transit Van required. Environmental: *Work environment may include tasks delivering mail to locations outside of the facility which will require the ability to work in the elements, to include possible extreme heat or cold.
