Job description
Position Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Contract Manager, this position performs clearly detailed, specific procedures in completing several repetitive tasks in a prescribed or slightly-varied sequence. The General Clerk II position distinguishes itself in that it requires the incumbent to have familiarity with the terminology of the office unit. The General Clerk II selects appropriate methods from a wide variety of procedures or makes simple adaptations and interpretations of a limited number of substantial guides and manuals. The clerical steps often vary in type or sequence, depending on the task. The incumbent is supported by the Contract Manager and recognized problems are referred to that position. Primary Responsibilities *Sorting, organizing, loading and/or delivering items weighing up to 70 pounds to designated locations *Customer service duties including working the front counter as a clerk. Greets customers, informs them of proper protocols, and ensures proper routing of items as needed *Sorts items, ensures proper categorization and labeling. Administers process of remediation of improperly labeled items as necessary. *Operates a variety of equipment necessary to administer processing *Operates vehicles necessary for the transport of items to designated delivery points. *All other duties as assigned by the Contract Manager or designee. Must be able to secure a security clearance as designated by the federal government. Must have a valid driver's license. Environmental While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside and outside. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be noisy, depending upon the task at hand. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, travel (including driving) from one building to another, push heavy equipment, twist at neck and waist, reach, and kneel.
