Position Summary:

The Process Modeling Engineer position works across the PCC Airfoils division to support process improvement endeavors using process simulation tools. The intended outcome of this activity is to reduce defects and optimize process definitions of equiaxed, directionally solidified, and single crystal products.

Essential Functions:

• Construct 3-D finite element models to simulate aspects of the investment casting process.
• Advance the production capability of PCC Airfoils with computer simulation tools.
• Perform computer simulation trials to reduce process development time and costs.
• Perform process simulations to identify root causes of process excursions. Primary simulation software will be ProCast,, but FEA and CFD will also be used.
• Continuously evaluate simulation tools and equipment to ensure technical advances are incorporated.
• Participate in cost reduction, continuous improvement and new part introduction (NPI) teams, as needed
• Participate in process and improvement initiatives with all US-based manufacturing sites of PCC Airfoils.
• Provide hands-on, floor level investigations and problem solving
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

• Proven analytical, problem solving, and process improvement ability
• Demonstrated ability to develop & execute action plans that will deliver results
• Working knowledge of process simulation tools (ProCAST, FEA, CFD, other)
• Working knowledge of 3D modeling concepts and software. NX experience a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations and priorities.
• Ability to handle high stress associated with high activity with tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge and training in metallurgy, mechanics of material, and casting processes.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Desired Skills:

• Highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently as well as work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
• Six sigma Certification preferred
• Proven experience in Metal Casting Industry.

Experience & Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Materials or other related Engineering discipline.
• Hands-on experience in the airfoils investment casting industry a plus
