Position Summary: The HVAC & Facilities Maintenance Technician at Axle Logistics plays a vital role in ensuring the optimal operation, maintenance, and repair of our heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. This role extends beyond HVAC, encompassing comprehensive general maintenance support across our bustling facilities, including our onsite fitness center, lounge areas, and offices. We're looking for a proactive, problem-solving individual who can not only expertly manage our HVAC needs but also contribute to the overall comfort and efficiency of our vibrant workspace. Key Responsibilities:
- HVAC System Mastery:
- Perform preventative maintenance, advanced troubleshooting, and timely repairs on a variety of commercial HVAC systems, including split systems, package units, rooftop units, and associated controls, ensuring optimal indoor air quality and comfort for our team.
- Expertly diagnose and resolve complex issues related to refrigerants, electrical components, motors, compressors, fans, ductwork, and sophisticated control systems.
- Conduct regular, thorough inspections of HVAC equipment to proactively identify and address potential problems, minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency.
- Monitor and adjust building management systems (BMS) or energy management systems (EMS) to optimize performance and energy consumption.
- Comprehensive Facilities Support:
- Execute minor electrical repairs (e.g., outlets, switches, light fixtures, ballasts) to maintain a safe and functional environment.
- Perform basic plumbing tasks (e.g., unclogging drains, repairing leaks, replacing fixtures) with efficiency and attention to detail.
- Conduct general carpentry and cosmetic repairs (e.g., drywall patching, painting, door and lock repairs) to uphold the aesthetic and structural integrity of our facilities.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of internal events, office moves, and other physical tasks that support our dynamic work environment.
- Proactively identify and address general maintenance needs throughout the building, including our unique amenities like the fitness center and game areas.
- Respond promptly and professionally to all maintenance requests, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Safety & Operational Excellence:
- Adhere strictly to all safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout protocols, to ensure a safe working environment for all.
- Ensure compliance with local codes, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., EPA refrigerant handling).
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory, utilizing our internal systems.
- Collaborative & Proactive Team Player:
- Communicate effectively and transparently with management, colleagues, and external contractors.
- Provide exceptional service and support to our internal team, contributing to Axle's positive and supportive culture.
- Participate in an on-call rotation as required to address urgent needs.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; HVAC vocational training, an Associate's Degree in HVAC, or relevant certifications (e.g., NATE, EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification) are strongly preferred.
- Required HVAC License & Certification
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience as an HVAC Technician in a commercial or large facility setting, coupled with demonstrated proficiency in general building maintenance.
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of diverse HVAC systems, including mechanical, electrical, and control aspects.
- Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of HVAC equipment independently.
- Solid foundational understanding and practical skills in electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Exceptional troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical capabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds regularly), climb ladders, and comfortably work in various conditions (e.g., attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, hot/cold environments).
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.
