Who we are looking for:

Groundswell is seeking a client-focused Workday Project Manager to lead the delivery of Workday implementations and enhancements for our Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) clients.

This role is critical in managing the end-to-end deployment process, from discovery through post-production support, while ensuring alignment with government compliance standards, cybersecurity requirements, and stakeholder goals. The ideal candidate brings both Workday expertise and strong customer engagement skills in a secure federal contracting environment.

What You'll do:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the DoD or IC client, managing all aspects of the Workday project lifecycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout.

  • Establish project goals, requirements gathering, schedules, budgets, resource coordination, risk management and performance benchmarks in accordance with DoD/IC standards and Workday best practices.

  • Lead cross-functional teams, including technical, functional, and client stakeholders, to deliver on project objectives and ensure compliance with federal and security requirements.

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring alignment between project deliverables and client expectations.

  • Lead stakeholder management, oversee change management initiatives, and ensure effective training development and delivery to support successful project adoption and organizational transformation.

  • Manage project risks, proactively identify and resolve impediments, and implement mitigation plans to ensure successful project outcomes.

  • Oversee project documentation, reporting, and communication, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Drive project delivery in accordance with DoD compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, DFARS).

  • Support proposal development, cost estimating, and business development activities as required.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to project team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Required Experience/Qualifications:

  • US Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance with Counterintelligence Polygraph

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Workday Project Manager/Engagement Manager Certification

  • 5+ years of project management experience, including direct experience with Workday or similar ERP/HCM implementations.

  • Demonstrated experience managing projects for federal clients, preferably within the DoD or public sector environment.

  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver complex technology projects on time and within budget.

  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (PMP or equivalent certification preferred).

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior client stakeholders and technical teams.

  • Proficiency in project management and productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Office Suite).

  • Strong understanding of enterprise system delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).

  • Ability and willingness to travel to client sites as necessary.

Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • PMP or CSM Certification.

  • Workday certifications in HCM, Financials, or Payroll.

  • Experience with Workday GovCloud deployments.

  • Familiarity with federal HR, Finance, or Procurement systems.

  • Experience managing subcontractor and Workday partner relationships.

  • Candidate local to the DC, MD, VA area

The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Groundswell, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

$120,260.00 - $180,976.00
