PMO - Packaging Machine Operator - 2nd Shift

Utz Quality Foods is looking to grow our loyal, career driven, and customer focused team and is currently recruiting for a Packaging Machine Operator to work from our UTZ manufacturing facility located in Goodyear, AZ on Second Shift.

The Packaging Machine Operator is responsible for the running of the packaging machines and is scheduled to work Monday-Friday 3:00PM - 11PM.

Key Responsibilities

• Checks production schedule and determines what products will be running.
• Selects best mix of packing machines/product for maximum efficiency.
• Gets necessary cello rolls from warehouse (using partial rolls first).
• Sets coder and eye to correct position.
• Installs correct code and price in printer and checks to ensure code and price are printing.
• Sets up stickers as necessary.
• Sets up spindle to hold cello and threads cello through machine as designed.
• Installs correct former.
• Sets drive belts.
• Cleans pull belts as necessary.
• Installs correct programs in Hayssens and scales.
• Makes required adjustments in computer set-up (eye, sticker, label, cut, pull, code, dump, speed, etc.).
• Sets/adjusts eyes above scales as necessary.
• Zeros scale buckets at every set-up and every two hours during shift.
• Ensures correct seals, cuts, bag weights, air fill, code locations, label locations and sticker locations.
• Makes minor repairs as necessary.
• Notifies maintenance and supervisor for major repairs.
• Notifies supervisor of necessary labels/stickers.
• Works with group leader and packers to ensure smooth production.
• Keeps packing machines running smoothly and responds promptly and professionally to calls from packers.
• Communicates with co-workers to ensure good product is not wasted.
• Empties machines of unacceptable product as necessary and between product changes.
• Catches and dumps product as necessary.
• Keeps work area clean.
• Assists packaging team during breaks and packs when necessary.
• Trains new machine operators.
• Sweeps top at end of shift and empties white tubs of crumbs.
• Communicates with operators coming on next shift.
• Responsible for quality and food safety tasks for their position.

Job Responsibilities

• Read, write, speak and understand sufficient English to communicate with supervisors and co-workers and operate equipment.
• Able to make changes quickly and accurately.
• Must be available and dependable for occasional overtime and Saturday work.
• Must be willing to perform duties assigned by supervisor or group leader.
