Position Summary

The University of New Mexico College of Nursing (CON) is seeking a Research Coordinator to provide specialized support for the Breastfeeding, Child Health, and Mammary Permeability Study (CHAMPS) grant. The purpose of this study is to learn about how milk composition contributes to a new parent's milk supply and how in turn, human milk affects the infant health and growth. The Research Coordinator will oversee and administer the day-to-day operations including community engagement, recruitment, enrollment, distribution of study materials, data and biological sample collection, participant and sample tracking. This position is NIH funded and will work 18 hours per week. The selected applicant must commit to living in the Albuquerque metropolitan area.

The Research Coordinator will serve as the point of contact for Breastfeeding CHAMPS study participants. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Recruits, consents, and enrolls study participants in clinic settings
  • Oversees and coordinates the collection of data and biological samples
  • Collaborates with Principal Investigators (PIs) to assist with questions and concerns regarding research
  • Ensure that goals and objectives as designated by Breastfeeding CHAMPS grant are achieved by creating, producing, and delivering marketing and outreach of the program to community agencies
  • Travel to designated UNM Clinics in Albuquerque

Conditions of Employment
  • Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Additional health screenings may be required, dependent on the nature of the research conducted, as determined by Employee Occupational Health Services.

  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
