As an OT Systems Engineer you will provide direct engineering and technical support of site operating technology (OT) networks and systems. Evaluate and develop technology, plan and implement modifications, maximize network/system security and performance, and ensure operability of various controls, digital, and execution systems, and their integrations.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Provide maintenance and lifecycle support for site automation/digital applications; with a focus on systems administration, virtualization, cross-platform integrations, and digital compliance.
  • Support and optimize the application of cybersecurity controls within the OT environment, to include (but are not limited to) user access management, system hardening/patching, anti-virus scanning and system configuration management.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems within the OT network infrastructure, including virtualization hosts, server/system hardware, network switches, PLC/DCS controllers, and network devices.
  • Provide technical support related to interfacing of devices using serial, bus interfaces, and other integration communication protocols (e.g. Profibus, Ethernet I/P, OPC, ODBC)
  • Partner within the site digital/automation teams in all facets - development, planning, execution, and support. Provide within these teams elevated level of support in your areas of technical responsibility and offer additional capacity as needed.
  • Become capable with site automation and digital systems such as Emerson DeltaV, Emerson Syncade, Rockwell PLCs, and Siemens Desigo.
  • Drive continuous improvement and problem solving across disciplines and functions within the site. This should manifest in improved ways of working, procedures and documentation, technical design, cybersecurity, performance, capability, and operating model.
  • Work in a way that models respect for employee safety, EHS, quality, compliance, data integrity, and GSK standards
Why you? Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering, life sciences, software, or equivalent technical discipline OR 4+ years of relevant technical experience
  • 4+ years of experience in metrology, calibration & measurement technologies & maintenance processes
Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Master's degree
  • Network or Computer Engineering
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting with any of the following: Emerson DeltaV, Rockwell PLCs, Siemens Desigo.
  • Experience with the administration, maintenance and upkeep of process control systems.
  • Ability to diagnose problems, generate options, prioritize issues, select optimal solutions, and implement decisions/resolve problems is required.
  • A demonstrated ability to interact well with peers and senior personnel in multidisciplinary teams involving scientific, engineering, and operational disciplines. The following job-related experience is preferred:
  • Additional experience in design, programming, start-up, and troubleshooting of process control systems, building automation systems, PLCs, and/or instrumentation.
  • Experience in systems/account administration, network design, and server troubleshooting.
  • Experience in the design, configuration, and testing of cross platform system integrations using communication protocols (e.g. OPC, ODBC, Ethernet-IP).
  • Experience working within a virtualized environment (Microsoft Hyper-V) is preferred.
  • Knowledge in firewall management, OT/IT integration and cyber security standards is preferred.
  • Experience working across the ISA95 levels (e.g. Control, MES, Enterprise) to apply/enforce proper network design and segmentation.
  • Experience working in a GMP environment, especially computer system validation and data integrity.
