Position Summary
FOR WSSU INTERNAL EMPLOYEES ONLY
The Senior Research Scholar for Nursing will dedicate their time to activities driving the project forward and ensure adherence to grant project milestones. The Senior Research Scholar for Nursing will participate in the development of innovative VR and AI clinical training content tailored to nursing educational standards. This role requires a visionary leader with expertise in nursing education and technology integration, serving as the primary subject matter expert in this cutting-edge initiative.

Content Research and Design

  • Contribute toward research to create and improve VR and AI training modules that enhance clinical skills and knowledge for nursing students and other disciplines as the technology continues to expand to other disciplines.
  • Co-design and provide subject matter expertise on clinical learning to support the research and integration of developing and applying adaptive learning methodologies.


Project Management

  • Oversee the implementation of training programs, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to grant objectives.
  • Supervise and mentor two Clinical Faculty Contributors, ensuring alignment with educational standards and project goals.
  • Engage and serve as project manager with Behavioral Scientist/Researcher.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with nursing education leaders, technology developers, and other stakeholders to gather feedback and insight into product development and improvements.
  • Provide orientation, training, and thought leadership as needed.

Evaluation and Assessment

  • Develop metrics to assess the effectiveness of the training content and adjust based on evaluation outcomes.
  • Contribute to and collaborate with research partners.

8:00 am-5:00pm Mon-Fri some weekends some evenings; 12-month position
Department Required Skills
Masters Degree in Nursing and Doctorate in relevant field
Hold a current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in the state of NC or compact state. Active licensure must be maintained throughout employment.
A minimum of 2 year teaching experience either in higher education or staff development in acute care.
Professional development in simulation education
Experience in simulation-based education with the use of high-fidelity manikins, VR, and Telehealth
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Required License or Certification
Master's Degree in Nursing and Doctorate in relevant field.
Experience with VR simulation and AI for simulation learning.
