Energy Department

The Energy Department is dedicated to managing and optimizing the energy resources required to power our data centers while promoting sustainability and efficiency. The Energy department plays a critical role in ensuring our power solutions are cost-effective, support speed to market, have sufficient scale to meet growing AI load, and resilient to energy market fluctuations. The team focuses on energy procurement from utilities, independent power producers (IPPs), energy marketers, and renewable energy technology providers.

Position Overview

This role can be based in Milwaukee, WI; Madison, WI; Chicago, IL or surrounding areas.

The Energy Delivery Manager plays a critical role in delivering power infrastructure for Vantage Data Centers' regional campus developments. This role is responsible for leading utility engagement, managing commercial delivery execution, and coordinating cross-functional workstreams to ensure on-time and cost-effective power delivery. While regulatory and policy support remains an important component-particularly given Wisconsin's active regulatory environment-the role is primarily focused on business execution, stakeholder coordination, and utility relationship management.

The ideal candidate brings strong project management skills and a proactive approach to navigating complex utility landscapes. This role will be the key interface with WE Energies, American Transmission Company (ATC), the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW), and internal teams to align utility service timelines with development and construction schedules, commercial goals, and customer readiness.

Essential Job Functions

Utility Strategy & Execution

  • Lead energy delivery planning and utility engagement strategy across assigned Wisconsin projects

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for WE Energies and ATC, overseeing all phases of utility service delivery, including interconnection, queue tracking, and commercial negotiation

  • Coordinate the execution of utility agreements (service agreements, interconnection contracts, rate schedules, etc.) in alignment with project timelines and commercial needs

  • Monitor and report on energization readiness, critical path risks, and external utility deliverables

Stakeholder & Internal Coordination

  • Lead utility-facing project management workstreams across Legal, Construction, Engineering, Operations, and Development

  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings to align internal teams with utility dependencies and deliverables

  • Track all project-level utility risks, ensure follow-through on mitigation plans, and deliver clear reporting to Energy leadership

  • Represent Vantage in meetings with utilities, public stakeholders, and key project partners

Regulatory & Policy Support

  • Support internal and external efforts tied to regulatory filings, CPCNs, and tariff proceedings (e.g., VLC tariff approvals and stakeholder briefings)

  • Coordinate with Legal and Policy teams to ensure Vantage's regulatory strategy aligns with delivery schedules and commercial objectives

  • Track Wisconsin-specific regulatory developments and escalate impacts to internal teams

Sustainability Alignment

  • Partner with Sustainability and Policy teams to explore renewable and clean energy options through utility offerings (e.g., green tariffs, RECs, or carbon-free energy solutions)

  • Ensure long-term utility strategies support Vantage's carbon reduction and clean energy goals

Challenges & Industry Context

  • Support power delivery in the face of rising demand driven by AI, cloud computing, and digital infrastructure growth

  • Help integrate renewable energy sources into long-term utility strategies while maintaining cost and reliability expectations

  • Navigate evolving regulatory and compliance frameworks across Wisconsin to avoid delays and manage commercial exposure

  • Balance project-level financial performance with enterprise-wide sustainability and clean energy targets

Additional Duties:

  • Handle additional duties as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, energy systems, or a related field

  • 5-8 years of experience in utility engagement, energy infrastructure project management, or commercial execution

  • Experience working with WE Energies and/or ATC is strongly preferred

  • Familiarity with Wisconsin's regulatory landscape, CPCN processes, and transmission planning

  • PMP certification or equivalent project management training is a plus

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong project management and cross-functional coordination skills

  • Commercially minded with the ability to manage contract execution and schedule risk

  • Effective communicator across technical and business stakeholders

  • Familiarity with utility queue management, interconnection planning, and rate structures

  • Working knowledge of regulatory filings, stakeholder consultation processes, and state commission coordination

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and confident leading delivery-focused workstreams

  • Proficiency in project tracking tools (Smartsheet, Asana, MS Project)

  • Travel required is expected to be up to 50% total travel (up to 30% local and up to 20% domestic) but may increase over time as the business evolves.
