Role/Responsibilities/Qualifications

Stellar Solutions is seeking a candidate with a solid foundation in systems engineering principles, a deep understanding of risk management methodologies, and experience working with complex systems within the space industry. They will also possess excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. This position is full-time on LAAFB.

The qualified System of Systems Engineer (SoSE) / Risk Manager will have:

Required skills:

    Systems Engineering Expertise:
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in systems engineering, with a focus on complex systems, preferably within the space industry. Experience with System of Systems (SoS) engineering principles is highly desirable. Demonstrated experience in risk management processes and techniques is essential.
    • Strong understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle (requirements definition, design, development, integration, testing, verification, validation, and operations).
    • Experience with systems engineering methodologies (e.g., Agile, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)).
    • Proficiency in developing and maintaining system architectures, requirements documents, interface control documents (ICDs), and other technical documentation.
  • System of Systems (SoS) Engineering:
    • Familiarity with SoS concepts, architectures, and challenges.
    • Experience in integrating heterogeneous systems and managing interdependencies.
    • Understanding of emergent behavior and SoS-specific risks.
  • Risk Management:
    • Proficiency in risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring.
    • Experience with risk management frameworks and tools (e.g., ISO 31000).
    • Ability to develop and implement risk management plans and strategies.
    • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative risk analysis techniques.
  • Space Systems Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with space systems architecture, including spacecraft, launch vehicles, ground systems, and communication networks.
    • Understanding of space environment effects on systems.
    • Knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g., NASA, MIL-STD, ISO).
  • Modeling & Simulation:
    • Experience with modeling and simulation tools for system analysis and performance evaluation.
    • Ability to develop and use models to assess system behavior and identify potential risks.
  • Software & Tools:
    • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, WarpCore).
    • Knowledge of configuration management tools.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Aerospace, Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field) is required.


Clearance & additional requirements:

  • TS/SCI required; must be SAP eligible
  • US Citizenship: Required
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP), Project Management Professional (PMP)) can be a plus.

Additional desired qualities and compentencies:

  • A Master's degree in Aerospace, Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Leadership: Leadership skills, including the ability to lead technical teams and deliver executive level technical briefings
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to think critically and challenge assumptions.
  • Decision-Making: Ability to make sound decisions based on data and analysis.
  • Organization & Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

Location

This position is full-time, on site in El Segundo, CA onsite at LAAFB

The typical salary range for this position is USD $135,000 - $150,000 per year. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus, retirement plan and other benefits (all in addition to salary).



Deliverable(s)

Deliverables will be in the format of reports, briefings, spreadsheets, or other documents as directed by the Government, using government approved and/or mandated systems/software and processes governed by guidance/instructions/policy or direction.
