Job Description

  • Performs a variety of customer service, retail sales, and merchandising functions for the UMKC Bookstore. Assists in maximizing store profitability, supporting merchandising strategies, monitoring inventory, and ensuring store safety and loss prevention. May also train and help manage sales staff.
  • Understands how the UMKC Bookstore team integrates with other campus partners to accomplish shared objectives.
  • Researches, tests, and evaluates new inventory and products, as directed.
  • Promotes special events at the UMKC Bookstore as assigned.
  • Provides solutions to customer problems in situations that are atypical or infrequently occurring.
  • Resolves customer complaints and issues to maintain a high standard of service.
  • Impacts the quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of the UMKC Bookstore team's operations.
  • Clearly explains information to customers and within the team.
  • Monitors sales and cash flow, noting discrepancies, trends, or impacts to the team and manager.
Shift

8am-5pm M-F, Occasional weekends

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour

Grade: GGS-007
