Job Summary
The Manager, Financial Planning leads a team of Finance Business Partners and oversees the daily operations of Denver Health's Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function. This role is responsible for driving standard work practices, optimizing use of financial systems (Kaufman Hall/Axiom, Epic, etc.), and delivering meaningful financial insights to support strategic and operational decision-making.The manager collaborates closely with executive leaders, department directors, and cross-functional finance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. This position plays a key role in shaping the financial strategy and ensuring high-quality support for operational leaders throughout the organization.
Essential Functions:
- Lead Financial Planning & Reporting
Provides support in the development, coordination, and execution of the annual budget, monthly forecasts, and variance analysis. Deliver timely and accurate financial reports and insights to support executive decision-making (20%) - Manage and Develop Finance Business Partner Team
Hire, train, and mentor a team of Finance Business Partners, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. (20%) - Supports and provides input for Standardization and Process Improvement
Develop and implement standard work processes and reporting templates. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and automation of financial planning activities. (20%) - Provides inputs for Financial Systems Utilization
Provides input in optimizing the use of key financial systems (e.g., Kaufman Hall Axiom, Epic, Infor/Lawson) to support planning, modeling, reporting, and cost management. (10%) - Provide Strategic Financial Analysis
Conduct complex financial modeling and analysis to evaluate operational performance, new initiatives, cost reduction opportunities, and staffing needs. (10%) - Partner with Operational Leaders
Collaborate with department leaders and senior executives to align financial plans with organizational strategy, deliver performance insights, and support productivity and benchmarking efforts. (10%) - Ensure Regulatory and Internal Compliance
Monitor financial performance, ensure compliance with financial policies and legal requirements. (10%)
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field. Required
- Master's Degree Master's Degreein Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.Preferred
Work Experience:
- 4-6 years in financial management or leadership position Required and
- 7-9 years in financial analysis, planning, or business partnership roles Required
Licenses:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in financial systems, particularly Kaufman Hall Axiom, Epic, and ERP systems (e.g., Infor/Lawson)
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with general ledger, accounts payable, and productivity benchmarking tools
- Deep expertise in financial planning and performance management in a healthcare setting
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to diverse audiences
- High degree of analytical thinking, problem-solving, and project management capability
- Commitment to collaboration, service excellence, and continuous improvement
- Business acumen necessary to make critical assessments
