BASIC PURPOSE The Arts, Education & Camp Manager position directly oversees key programs and supports Mission Integration of The Salvation Army Kroc Center. The Arts, Education & Camp Manager supervises camp operations, education and arts programs. This position ensures a high-quality experience for diverse participants, builds relationships with schools in the community, and leads a team of employees for various programs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES As this position will directly support key programs and ministries of The Salvation Army, the Arts, Education & Camp Manager must be fully committed to the advancement of The Salvation Army's Christian mission through the functions described below and, in all aspects of his or her employment with The Salvation Army.
- Responsible for daily management and planning for all Camps, Music, Dance, Arts and Education programs, including but not limited to budget, child safety, and staffing.
- Schedule, coordinate, and assign program space and resources for all Camps, Music, Dance, Art and Education programs ensuring sufficient room and supplies are available for the expected number of participants.
- Facilitate and implement Bible lessons for youth, young adults, and families.
- Will be actively involved with the Church leadership and ministry team.
- Build a connection for Kroc program attendees to ministry opportunities.
- Recruit, hire, supervise, and assess staff member performance.
- Conduct employee appraisals to include timely completion of 90-day evaluation and annual review. Create a calendar for regularly scheduled touch base sessions.
- Serve as a Manager on Duty as needed.
- Plan, organize, and implement staff training, including but not limited to orientation, Protecting the Mission (child safety), childhood development and education, and recreation.
- Conduct customer surveys and partner with the Marketing department to identify outcomes that will promote growth of the programs under your direct supervision and meet the needs of the community.
- Maintain prescribed risk management standards to include certification, in-service training, and accident/incident report tracking.
- Responsible for meeting budgetary guidelines and evaluating programs for fiscal responsibility.
- Meet regularly with the Kroc Center Director to discuss the shared facility resources, status of fiscal budget, revenue and goals toward operating a fiscally responsible department.
- Manage approved program budgets and develop program budgets for administrative approval.
- Establish and nurture partnerships with schools, theaters, local agencies, and homeschool programs. Provide consistent updates, keeping all organizations informed of the children's programs offered at The Salvation Army Kroc Center.
- Actively participate in community events to promote The Salvation Army Kroc Center programs and camps.
- Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records, liability waivers, and contact information on all participants.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Education, Fine Arts, or related fields or other combinations of education and experience may be accepted.
- Minimum three years of experience programming youth activities including camps and special interest classes.
- Minimum of three years of prior experience in supervising and managing a professional staff, including volunteers.
- Possess a high level of integrity and willingness to support and promote the mission of The Salvation Army.
- Leadership skills, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to maintain a positive approach and professional manner while interacting with Kroc employees, guests, and the public.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to carry out multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Necessary to have strong oral and written communication skills.
- May be required to work a flexible schedule to include some weekends, evenings and holidays.
- First Aid, CPR and AED required. If not current, certification must be obtained within two months of employment. Instructor certification preferred
D. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check.
- Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.
E. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
- Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
- Ability to reach overhead.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
