BASIC PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to oversee all aspects of food pick-ups and deliveries, assist with all transportation and set up needs for program and events, oversee all warehouse volunteers and pre-programmers, monitor warehouse inventory, and give direction and assist with custodial needs of the Corps. Responsible for safely operating the Corps box truck, forklift, and vans, pick up and drop off Facility Program Participants, maintain order, security and obey all laws, regulation and rules of conduct set forth by The Salvation Army Lodi Corps and Department of Motor Vehicles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Operate all company vehicles in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
  2. Set up and follow a periodic check system and maintenance for all Corps support vehicles and equipment.
  3. Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
  4. Maintain appropriate fluid levels at all times.
  5. Clean the truck and vans as scheduled and/or required.
  6. Ensure the vehicles are safely and securely stored.
  7. Notify Corps Officers / supervisors of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
  8. Coordinate and assist with all food drives.
  9. Drive box truck for pick ups of donations and interact with donors.
  10. Load and unload box truck with forklift, weigh and record all food donations according to policy, ensure food rotation of all food supplies.
  11. Responsible for all paperwork relating to warehouse and food distribution including all "gift in kind" donations and stats.
  12. Oversee staff, volunteers, and pre-pre-programmers working in the warehouse, special event support, and janitorial work.
  13. Oversee and assist with the upkeep, appearance, and cleanliness of the Lodi Corps facility.
  14. Assist with food distribution to clients (food box preparation, distribution, and Hope Harbor food support)
  15. Practice vigilant supervision at all times.
  16. Handle security and crisis situations calmly.
  17. Coordinate all areas of the Corps warehouse (storage, inventory, food rotation, health department items, OSHA, etc)
  18. Follow and implement all safety rules to ensure a safe working area.
  19. Oversee and assist with all kitchen and feeding needs at the Corps facility
  20. Prepare order for materials relevant to kitchen, warehouse, and upkeep needs.
  21. Work closely with officers and staff as needed relating to needs associated with the warehouse.
  22. Maintain progressive knowledge of all programs and facilities.
  23. Adhere to Lodi Corps operations and all company policy procedures.
  24. Observe all safety rules and regulations and stay up to date on all DOT and S.A. requirements for drivers.
  25. Make sure that the Lodi box truck and van remain secure by keeping windows and doors locked and by reporting any security concerns.
  26. Daily secure all outside doors, windows, dumpsters and equipment, and turn off all lights and coolers as appropriate before leaving.
  27. Complete required trainings.
  28. Attend staff meetings as assigned.
  29. Maintain confidentiality.
  30. Other related duties as assigned by the Business Administrator and/or Corps Officer and/or Corps Assistant Officer.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS



  1. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
  2. Must be 21 years or older.
  3. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check.
  4. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.
  5. Must be able to give written and verbal instructions in English.
  6. Ability to use computer for daily & weekly reporting of donations received as well as being able to communicate through emails
  7. Ability to operate a box truck, vans, forklift in safe and responsible manner (forklift driving experience or certification preferred)
  8. Knowledge of scheduling systems and procedures.
  9. Ability to work successfully with the challenging behaviors of pre-programmers in our care.
  10. At least one year of warehouse experience preferred.
  11. Have a sense of cleanliness, tidiness, and neatness.
  12. Have good supervision skills and be able to work closely and cooperatively with other staff members.
  13. Have ability to work with and serve a wide range of clients, volunteers, and beneficiaries.
  14. Have positive public relation skills.
  15. Must possess a high degree of initiative, ability to work with little oversight, and an effective team member.
  16. Knowledge of Salvation Army policies and procedures helpful


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations



  1. Must pass The Salvation Army background checks.
  2. Must attend TSA Program and Child Safety Training.
  3. Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
  4. Must be 21 years or older.
  5. Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, manage stairs, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  2. Must be able to pass required DOT physical
  3. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks and miscellaneous carts.
  4. Have uninhibited physical mobility in bending and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  5. Requires exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  6. Ability to operate a wireless phone or radio.
  7. Ability to operate a motor vehicle
  8. Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks
  9. Ability to verbally interact with staff, clients, volunteers, donors, and children.
