Join Our Team as a Machine Shop Supervisor at Epiroc!

The purpose of the Machine Shop Supervisor is to optimize the operation of Value Stream and the engagement of its personnel, drive operational excellence and achieve the established goals for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and inventory. Develop direct reports to ensure that their full potential is met through opportunity, education, training, etc. The Group Leader takes full responsibility for the success of the assigned value stream and is a member of the Operations Leadership Team.

Work Type (Onsite): This position will be based onsite at our Milwaukie, OR facility. This job opening is not eligible for immigration/work visa sponsorship.

Salary Range: The salary for this position is between $75,000 to $100,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. This range reflects our commitment to fair pay based on skills, experience, and market standards

Responsibilities:



  • Build and lead a high-performing, self-directed Value Stream (VS) team focused on morale, job satisfaction, and performance.
  • Understand VS products, customers, and all related manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Champion safety as a top priority; ensure all required safety training is completed for new team members.
  • Drive continuous improvement by training associates in lean tools and ensuring understanding of SQDC metrics, visual management tools, and standard work.
  • Develop and execute SPQRC plans and operator skill matrices; track progress using team improvement boards and report outputs in daily meetings.
  • Conduct regular audits and ensure accurate, accessible, and followed standard work instructions.
  • Identify and resolve systemic issues using A3 and other problem-solving tools.
  • Collaborate with HR on hiring, onboarding, performance management, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Facilitate effective daily team meetings and maintain up-to-date team improvement boards.



Knowledge/Education:



  • High School Diploma
  • Vocational program or equivalent machining experience preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of supervising personnel experience
  • Able to coordinate efforts of multiple work cells to achieve daily production targets
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, to train/mentor workforce patiently and persistently for continuous improvement



Skills and Abilities:



  • Ability to read and follow blueprints and technical drawings to aid Manufacturing Engineering and Quality in finding root cause(s) of issues
  • Proven problem-solving skills and demonstrated decision making skills
  • Essential traits for this position are experienced leadership and an innovative approach; a self-starter who enjoys the challenge of implementing continuous improvement activities.
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience.
