Job Summary:

The Graduate Certificate in Bioethics and Humanities in Health (BEHH) is an innovative program that prepares healthcare professionals, researchers, educators, and other specialists to integrate ethical reasoning with humanistic insights in their work. Our interdisciplinary program serves physicians, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, dental professionals, social workers, spiritual care providers, psychologists, therapists, counselors, ethicists, students in health professions, retirees, and others passionate about bioethics and health humanities who seek to navigate complex challenges in research, policy, education, and practice. This Adjoint Instructor role will teach/co-teach content in the BEHH program offerings across multiple delivery formats, contributing expertise in bioethics, health humanities, creative expression, or related interdisciplinary fields.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development: Co-create content for BEHH courses across multiple delivery formats based on current evidence, best practices, ADA guidelines, diverse perspectives, and properly credited sources
- Instruction: Teach/co-teach courses in various formats including in-person, hybrid, asynchronous, study abroad, and independent study options
- Student Assessment: Grade student submissions in a timely manner as determined by program leadership
- Student Mentorship: Guide students through capstone projects, independent studies, and professional development
- Collaboration: Engage in respectful communication with students, faculty, and program leadership
- Professional Development: Attend faculty meetings and participate in ongoing program development

Qualifications:
|
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Doctoral degree (PhD, JD, MD, or equivalent terminal degree) or Master's degree with significant professional experience in bioethics, philosophy, health humanities, healthcare ethics, creative arts, social work, psychology, medicine, nursing, public health, anthropology, literature, theology, law, communication studies, or closely related field
- Current professional licensure/certification in relevant field (where applicable)
- Demonstrated expertise in bioethics, health humanities, clinical ethics, creative arts, or related interdisciplinary area
- Teaching, training, or educational experience at any level (academic, professional development, community education, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching, training, or educational experience across multiple delivery formats (online, hybrid, in-person)
- Clinical, professional, or community engagement experience in healthcare, research, public health, or related applied settings
- Certification in relevant professional areas (e.g., Healthcare Ethics Consultant-Certified, clinical specialty certifications)
- Curriculum development experience, including creating educational materials and assessments
- Canvas LMS experience as instructor and/or student
- Interdisciplinary collaboration experience in healthcare, academic, public health, or community settings
- Workshop facilitation and presentation experience
- Experience with diverse populations and commitment to inclusive education
- Experienced in applying adult learning principles and pedagogical best practices
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Proficiency with online learning platforms (Canvas preferred)
- Familiarity with video conferencing tools

Anticipated Pay Range:
|
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE: $1,500 per 1.0 course (minimum enrollment of 5 students required) The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
