About this Role:

Responsible for executing, through the anodizing line, the production plan. The automated line operator/Op Tech III directs the press operator, robot operator, degreaser, material handlers and loaders on the shift for the necessary personnel on the material moves to execute the plan. The Automated Line Operator will aid in the enforcement of proper Silgan EHS practices and company policies on their respective shift.

  • Run the anodizing line at the proper cycle and code to ensure the process is adhered to.
  • Monitor chemistry parameters and process elements to ensure meeting the finished product quality specifications.
  • Capable to run and troubleshoot all support equipment. These include, but not limited to chillers, hoists, compressors, RO and water treatment system, rectifiers.
  • Need to be familiar with all auxiliary equipment (chiller, compressor, RO...) for operation, start-up and shutdown.
  • Minimize line down time impact in quality and lost time through systematic service key operation. Call in support if and when needed.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness on the respective shift.
  • Part of the plant heat-up/startup and shutdown team.
  • Required to run specific analysis to ensure process uniformity.
  • Chemistry make-ups and additions.
  • Dye make-ups and seal baths to support production.
  • Monitor and control waste treatment system to ensure quality of effluent meets permit parameters.
  • Responsible for executing the shift production plan by directing and coordinating with OP Tech II on arrivals and departures of flight bars, job changeovers, and first piece production.
  • Maintains all operations, treatment system, and maintenance logs and accurately fills to completeness.
  • Works directly with the anodizing lab, loading and quality to ensure proper line operation.
  • Meets hourly with in-process quality to ensure line output is aligned with the quality standards.
  • Reports any production anomalies or issues to the Technical Chemical Supervisor.
  • Able to run a line analysis.
  • Assist in investigation of reasons for quality defects.
  • Report any machinery breakdowns to the Technical Chemical Supervisor.
  • Carry out tasks as assigned by the Technical Chemical Supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualified Candidates Must Have:

  • High School diploma/GED and or work experience.
  • Basic level of PC expertise - Excel/Word and/or ERP or computerized inventory control system.
  • Self-motivated individual with a positive "Can-Do" attitude.
  • Has familiarity with chemicals and comfortable in working in a chemical process
  • Ability to accurately complete arithmetic computations sufficiently to perform duties of the job.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and other personnel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • mechanical aptitude and quality understanding is needed
  • Chemical familiarity or previous work with chemical processes.
  • Ability to diagnose and take initiative when needed.
  • Attention to Detail.
  • Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.

Physical Requirements (Reasonable accommodations provided):

Lifting is required periodically throughout the shift. Must be able to lift 35 pounds. Other physical requirements include but not limited to sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, carrying, pulling & pushing, stooping & crouching, colour determination, grasping, reaching, speaking and listening.

Some assembly workstations interact directly with the machine indexing table which step rotates clockwise for the operator to add parts at that particular station. The operator should not be susceptible to motion nausea if they fixate on moving assembly equipment.
