DESCRIPTION

Under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse in the assigned department and reporting to the Practice Manager, this position supports a wide range of patient care activities in the Allergy clinic. Responsibilities include prioritizing and assisting in patient triage, preparing for and administering allergy shot injections, conducting allergy testing and procedures, administering medications, point-of-care testing, collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, and providing patient education. Candidates must be current and proficient in venipuncture and laboratory specimen collection protocols.

This role requires the ability to strictly follow established clinical protocols, as well as a demonstrated interest in contributing to protocol development and quality improvement initiatives. The position also involves managing a high volume of in-basket tasks while supporting in-clinic activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in a fast-paced ambulatory procedural setting, show initiative, prioritize critical demands, maintain strong attention to detail, and work collaboratively in a team environment. Positive, professional interactions with patients, families, visitors, and colleagues are essential. Job standards are to be performed at the expert level. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) issued by the state of California.
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of LVN experience.
  • Proficient in current phlebotomy techniques.
  • Capable of effectively handling a high volume of heavy in-basket tasks alongside in-clinic activities.
  • Requires knowledge of universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, exhibiting a professional demeanor to function effectively in diverse clinical/healthcare and community settings as well as possess the ability to communicate clearly and effectively (both through written and oratory methods) to diverse audiences.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with allergy, immunology and angioedema patient populations.
  • Certification in Intravenous Therapy and Blood Withdrawal issued by the state of California (LVN IV/BW) within 3 months of hire.
  • A strong interest in participating in clinical protocol development, quality improvement projects, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
  • Comfort working in an environment that fosters innovation, teamwork, and accountability for results.
  • A track record of contributing to a culture of safety, excellence, and continuous learning.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $74,980 - $93,229 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $35.91 - $44.65

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
