Job Title: Cloud Test Analyst II

Location: Columbia, SC 29203 (Onsite is Highly Preferred but open to Remote )

Duration: 6 Months (possibility to extend)

Hours: 8:30 am to 5 pm
(Possible overtime, when needed to meet project timelines)

Job Description:

Duties:

  • Provide service for multiple clients, including onsite service where needed. Make recommendations to clients on how to improve testing activities.
  • Track quality assurance metrics.
  • 45% Participate in the design phase of projects to ensure that new or modified functions are developed using correct testing methodology.
  • Arrange major activities between the client and IS staff to ensure maximum gain from technical resources.
  • 45% Complete supportive administrative and lead activities such as attending sessions with customers, planning and disbursing projects to team members, completing reports and developing processes.
  • 10% Perform testing duties which may involve reviewing test data, creating test cases, executing testing, and monitoring/documenting results.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to testing staff.


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent project planning, organization, and management skills.
  • Thorough understanding of data processing terminology, operations, and architecture utilized in debugging application/environmental problems.
  • Thorough understanding of systems migration processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skill in testing data creation and manipulation.
  • Ability to understand functional connections between applications.
  • Ability to utilize test requirements, specifications, diagrams, logic functions, etc.


Day to Day:

  • A typical day for a Cloud Test Analyst II involves executing and maintaining test cases for CBIC applications like the Connexion portal, which is hosted in the CMS Cloud (built on AWS).
  • The analyst uses TestRail to manage test plans and track execution results, while Jira is used to log and monitor defects aligned with Agile sprints.
  • Collaborate with developers and business analysts during daily stand-ups, using Confluence to document test strategies, user stories, and release notes.
  • The role includes functional, regression, and integration testing, with a focus on validating application behavior in cloud environments and ensuring compliance with CMS security and performance standards.
  • In addition, create and review test data for cloud system changes and coordinate activities, implementations, and debugging efforts related to those changes within the IT environment.
  • Complete supportive administrative and lead activities related to cloud testing and collect and analyze data to support software process evaluation and continuous improvement.
  • Their work is essential to maintaining the quality, reliability, and compliance of cloud-based healthcare applications.


Work Environment:

The position holds a critical role in the application development process; testing new or modified applications to make sure they will work in the client's operating environment. Fast paced, multi-platformed environment which may require action and response 24X7 to support the technical business needs of the customer.

The Team:

This is an exciting new opportunity at CBIC. The new team will consist of several scrum teams dedicated to migrating applications to the CMS AWS Cloud and updating them for the next round of Competitive Bidding. This structure leverages a wide range of skills and expertise, enabling the team to operate across different functions and projects while working from various locations. It's a flexible and dynamic approach to team organization that supports agility and innovation in a global business environment.

Job Requirements:

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other job related degree. or 4 years of job related work experience or 2 years of job related experience plus an associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other job related degree.


Required Work Experience:

  • 5 years of IT experience to include experience developing test plans and/or matrices.


Required Technologies:

  • Agile Testing Experience
  • Jira/Confluence
  • Medicare Experience
  • TestRail/ALM
  • Cloud hosted application experience


Nice To Have:

  • Test Automation Tools (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Postman
  • Understanding DevOps practices and helps in managing cloud-based analytics pipelines and deployments.
  • Experience with GitHub Actions, version control, automated testing, and deployment of workflows.


Soft Skills: Adaptability & Flexibility: CMS and CBIC environments are dynamic, with frequent updates, evolving requirements, and shifting priorities. Quickly adjusting test plans based on new requirements or sprint changes and learning new tools or cloud environments as needed.

Collaboration & Teamwork: Testers work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, analysts, and CMS stakeholders. Collaborating in Jira/Confluence, participating in daily stand-ups, and supporting shared goals in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Problem-Solving & Initiative: Testers often need to troubleshoot issues independently and suggest improvements to test coverage or processes. Investigating root causes of defects, proposing automation opportunities, or enhancing test documentation.
