Job Summary
In partnership with internal and external partner institutions, manage complex workflows for both physical and electronic material requests, with responsibilities that include managing requests from internal and external library patrons and ensuring seamless access to collections. Primarily responsible for outreach and programming, customer service, and facilities and security management of the library during evening hours. This position is responsible for participating in the orientation, training, supervision, scheduling, mentoring, and evaluation of undergraduate and graduate student assistants. Provide formal and informal instructional information, literacy, and digital skills for students, customers, and personnel. Training encompasses technology, research, evaluation, and the utilization of information gathered.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 - Oversee the digitization of physical items for electronic delivery, ensuring that materials meet institutional standards and are properly made available via document delivery systems and Interlibrary Loan (ILL). This task demands an understanding of digital access protocols and technology, while collaborating with ILL librarians at both campuses.
Job Duty 2 - Manage the intake and processing of new and returning materials for the Library Service Center (LSC). This includes tray assembly, sizing, labeling, accessioning, verifying, and shelving items while maintaining accuracy in data entry and storage procedures, adhering to both institutions' policies.
Job Duty 3 - Monitor multiple request queues (physical and electronic) and manage complex tasks including citation validation, item location, retrieval, and organization for delivery to both campus libraries and external libraries. This requires in-depth knowledge of library systems and the ability to switch between two institutions' software, policies, and procedures to ensure that requests are processed accurately and efficiently.
Job Duty 4 - Provide high-quality customer support to library patrons, assisting with access to and delivery of both physical and electronic materials. This includes helping patrons navigate library resources, answering queries, and ensuring user accounts are properly managed for seamless access.
Job Duty 5 - Monitor and maintain the quality of accessioned items, including maintaining planography, coordinating shelf adjustments and supplies for the archive module, and performing quality assurance checks on weekly accessions.
Job Duty 6 - Engage with patrons on-site to assist them using the LSC's collections, including support for remote access. Provide troubleshooting assistance for access issues and ensure patrons can effectively utilize library resources.
Job Duty 7 - Operate the shuttle to deliver and retrieve items between external library partners within Georgia Tech and other campus institutions ensuring materials are transported safely, on time, and in accordance with institutional policies and procedures for both locations.
Job Duty 8 - Work closely with faculty, staff, and external libraries to manage complex workflows, ensuring that materials are requested, processed, and delivered according to both institutional and external requirements. The role involves regular communication and collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure seamless operation of the LSC while navigating the different software and policies of both institutions.
Job Duty 9 - Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements High School Diploma, GED, or Vocational School Diploma. Vocational Training/Degree may be preferred or required (some profiles may require additional education).
Other Required Qualifications CERTIFICATION, LICENSE, or PERMITS: o Valid Georgia Driver's License o Must be certified to operate the following warehouse equipment within 90 days of hire: order picker, maintenance lift, scissor lift, and pallet jack
Required Experience No prior relevant work experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications CERTIFICATION, LICENSE, or PERMITS: Safety certifications on order pickers and maintenance lifts or other warehouse equipment.
Preferred Educational Qualifications Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.

ABILITIES o Ability to maintain professional customer relations o Ability to learn various library and inventory software o Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and in teams o Ability to maintain concentration on detailed information over an extended period of time; ability to effectively switch tasks; and the capability to independently learn new technologies and their applications in libraries o Must be able to work in an environment with temperature conditions of 50 degrees/35% relative humidity, lift and move up to 50 lbs., work at heights up to 36 ft., and stand and/or sit for extended periods. This position will require some intermittent evening and weekend work, particularly during peak times.
KNOWLEDGE Intermediate knowledge of office-related computer applications
SKILLS o Strong verbal and written communication skills o Preferred: Demonstrated ability to train co-workers on computer systems and/or facilities operational equipment; previous experience with high-density storage software, ILLiad or other interlibrary loan software, inventory control systems; experience working in a team environment.
